Hair and Happiness Part 7 Happily Ever After! A few days later, her hair had been trimmed again. After some polite compliments, I decided to broach the subject Have you ever thought of growing your hair longer, I said. Id love to see what it would be like. Ive thought about it, but it was such a pain when I was a kid. I was such a tomboy. It was always getting tangled. Then with a wry smile, she said Maybe I will. Just for once. And she was true to her word. The next salon appointment was quietly forgotten and the next. Her hair grew faster than I could have dared to hope at around an inch a month. By the time we got engaged a year later it well past her bra strap and well on the way to waist length. It beauty and quality did not diminish one iota as it grew. It was already a quite breathtaking sight. Compliments from strangers were not uncommon. Over that year the true depth of my love for long hair became apparent to her. She gradually became aware of my obsession, and over that time she became more committed to growing her hair longer. Despite her usual modesty, even she couldnt deny that her longer hair looked fantastic and it was right for her to make the most of it. We got married three years ago. By that time her hair was already inching past her waist. Over the last three years her hair has continued to grow at the same furious pace. She has never returned to the salon. I give her the occasional trim a skill learned from one of my internet buddies! Last summer, her hair reached knee length. It is now noticeably longer and brushed the tops of her calves as she walks up the stairs. There is no greater stimulant to our lovemaking than following on behind this exotic strawberry blonde waterfall. Each stage of growth has been special to me and, I believe, for her. She has grown to love her hair almost as much as me. She had a few doubts once it reached her bottom, but she was decided to keep growing after seeing the amazed reaction of an old female schoolfriend, who she hadnt seen her for four years. Her hair is still just as beautiful, with no obvious sign of thinning or wear and tear. I am optimistic that my childhood dream of living with a real Rapunzel is coming true. She now talks excitedly of how she will manage when it reaches the floor which I guess will be in the next two years or so if her hair keeps growing at its current rate. Then, who knows? We have a child on the way, and I am hoping it wont change her outlook. I will be on hand to help in every way I can. Hopefully this will be one fairy tale in which we all live happily ever after. |
