When I stopped watching about three or four episodes into the sixth season, I would sometimes visit message boards or chat rooms for the show, and I was finding fewer and fewer people like myself, who realized the show was going downhill (WAY downhill), and who used to be relatively common, and more and more people who actually thought the show was getting BETTER!!! I used to blame it on the Shippers (and I do think that most of the "newbies" were Shippers, or at least a higher percentage as was common amonsgt the older viewers), however, I think now that it was merely a dumbing down of the show, which lead to a dumbing down of audience, an audience which could only see the show as now being "more entertaining" as it was when they tried watching in earlier seasons.
In any case, my aim here is to try and find others like myself, who not only still appreciate the older episodes, but REALLY MISS it, and would like to become a part of an intelligent-X-Files-watching community once more. The way I see it is this: the audience for the X-Files, in the beginning, was similar to the audience of the old Star Trek; if Trekkies(ers) can apppreciate re-runs only of their favorite show, old-time 'Philes can do the same.
