Abstract

Reverse Engineering process constitutes mainly of three stages. The first stage is the data capturing. The second stage is the fitting of this cloud of points in order to get the surface, then constructing the solid modeling. The third stage is the CNC code generation for the manufacturing of the reverse engineered part.

This project is concerned with the second stage. After scanning a fitting process is required in order to obtain the representing surface of the part from the cloud of points. OpenGL is used for presenting the graphics of the part. Visual Basic is also used as a tool for the required programs for fitting using NURBS. The fitted part is then ready for constructing the solid model, and CNC code generation.
