Spiderman 2
Movie Rating :
Spiderman 2 is finally here! This continuation from the first film certainly surpasses the first film. Spiderman 2 is definitely better than it's previous film. As the first film unfolds the story of how Peter Parker attain his spidey powers through a freak accident and how he made up his mind to put his new found abilities to good use as spiderman, this continuation gives a more in depth study of his character and how this great responsibility affects his everyday life.

This time round, we get to see that Peter's life is greatly affected by his normal day life and super-normal crime fighting identity.  Peter ran into lots of financial and emotional problems as he loses his ability to juggle between his dual identities.  He couldn't hold his promises to Mary Jane time and again and she finally decides to tie the knot with another guy.  To make matters worse, heartbroken Peter also starts losing his powers and self confidence.

Finally, he decides to give up his spiderman identity and lead a normal life. Although he was able to feel at ease with himself for a while, but circumstances and his conscience forced him to put up his suit again to battle crime against Doctor Octavius, whose mind was controlled by 4 alien tentacles after a fusion experiment that went awry.  To add fuel to the fire, Harry Osborne was bent on getting revenge on spiderman as spidey killed his father (aka green goblin) in episode 1.  To get his revenge, he made a deal with Dr Octavius to bring him spiderman in exchange for uranium (the source of power for his fusion experiment). As Mary Jane was abducted by Dr Oct to lure Spidey out, Spidey was eventually subdued.

Harry finally learnt Spidey's true identity and he went into an emotional turmoil. His best friend killed his dad!  On account of Mary Jane's safety and also his confused state, Harry freed Peter and gave him the location of Dr Octavius's hideout.  After a fierce fight between the hero and villian, Dr Oct regained his control over his alien limbs and stopped the destructive fusion experiment with his life.  Mary Jane also found out about Peter's identity as spiderman and Peter blurted all his true bottled feelings for her.  She knew that she could not lead a normal life with Peter and she must choose between her true love and a stable life with her present boyfriend.  Her final decision to live a life of uncertainty with the love of her life gives Peter the strength and courage to brave unknown dangers together.  This happy ending brings a glimmer of hope, both into Peter and the audience's lives. =)
