INFO:

HTTP Test is a handy program to use with WebCracker. It gives some basic functionality
that makes cracking easier. Here are a few instances when HTTP Test is valuable:

1) When you know the URL of the site you want to crack, but it doesn't require
authentication. However, it calls a URL that DOES need authentication. HTTP Test
will let you view the source of the page to see where this hidden URL is pointing,
so you will know what URL to give WebCracker. Of course, you could do the same thing
with a browser, but HTTP Test is faster and easier. And, with HTTP test, you can
check to see if the second, hidden URL is password protected or not.

2) Some password protected sites don't disable expired accounts, they just point them
to a different "Expired" page. That way, if the user wants to pay more money and
join again, his account will be re-enabled. This often throws off WebCracker, because
WebCracker thinks it found a "good" account, when the account is actually expired.
You can use HTTP Test to try accounts that WebCracker finds, to weed out the "Expired"
ones from the active ones. Just plug in the URL, and the username and password that
you want to test. The source of the URL will be shown, and you can see whether it points
to the expired page or an active page. To make this process even easier, you can check
the "Auto-copy password from clipboard" box. This will take whatever is in the clipboard
and automatically plug it into the Username and Password fields, then try to retrieve the
page. Since many accounts are found that have identical user IDs and passwords, this
speeds up the testing process. Highlight the user id in the Webcracker log window, copy
it to the clipboard, then click "Get" in HTTP Test and the ID will be checked for you.

HTTP Test is hardly professional software. It's just a quick hack of a simple demo program
that makes life with WebCracker much easier in some circumstances. As always, your mileage
may vary.
