| July 4, 1998 - The VGWA celebrated the birthday of our great nation with the return of "The Master" Bill Fuji, who promptly challenged his old protege'/rival, "The New Master" Chad Fuji, to a Best-of-Seven series. The first two matches were held that day. Match One: Chad Fuji by TKO Match Two: Bill Fuji by TKO July 7, 1998 - The Best-of-Seven series continued... Match Three: Chad Fuji via submission. Match Four: Chad Fuji by TKO. Match Five: Bill Fuji by submission. Match Six: Chad Fuji via TKO. Chad Fuji once again won the undisputed right to call himself The Master, at least for now. But can any man truly call himself A master, let alone THE Master without constantly accepting the challenges of others, especially those who have also laid claim to that very same title? This writer is of the opinion that he cannot. July 12, 1998 - The International Tag Team Grand Prix Champions, The Mikesiders, defend their titles against the challenge of Deadly Bill and Corporal Punishment. This epic battle was brought to a halt when Corporal Punishment rendered Big Todd Hall unconscious. But the titles do not change hands on a knockout, and The Mikesiders walk away with their reign intact. July 19, 1998 - Chico Guererro put the Cruiserweight Championship on the line in a 4-way dance against Matt Malenko, Mike-Pac and La Parka II. The winner, in a suprise upset, was La Parka II. La Parka II almost immediately put the title up for grabs in a 4-man battle royale against Dean Malenkowski, Mike "The Shitman" Fart and Ultiwelztro Dragon. The winner and new champ - Dean Malenkowski! July 20, 1998 - Miguel Guererro defends the Cruiserweight Championship in a battle royale against Chico Guererro, Billy Blanchard and Rey Mysterio Jr. The winner and new champ - Billy Blanchard! July 21, 1998 - Miguel loses a retirement match to the man who is sometimes called his brother and sometimes called his uncle, Chico Guererro. In addition, he also lost his newly reclaimed Cruiserweight Championship and he had to once again apologize to his grandmother. July 23, 1998 - After winning the Cruiserweight Title, Dean Peglenko puts it on the line in a winner-take-all League Challenge against Chico Guererro & Billy Blanchard. The results: Peglenko: 6 points - the winner! Guererro: 3 points Blanchard: 0 points July 24, 1998 - After various legal and contractual obligations, the Cruiserweight Championship obtains sanctioning by the N.W.A, and shall now be referred to as the N.W.A. Junior Heavyweight Championship of the World. On that fateful day, a rivalry that had been brewing to the surface finally spilled over onto the proverbial stove that is the ring - William Hardt, known to wrestling fans the world over as Bill "Hitman" Hart, took on second-generation superstar Dean Peglenko. for that very same Jr. Heavyweight Title, now sanctioned by the oldest and largest governing body of order in the world of professional wrestling. Hart broke Peglenko's neck and was disqualified. Thus, the title did not change hands. July 27, 1998 - International Tag Team Grand Prix Champions D. Dallas Derdowski and "Macho" Chad Poffo signed a No-Holds-Barred Lumberjack Texas Tornado Match against their most hated enemies, "Big Dutht" Billy Rhodth and his partner Macho Billy Savage. It was a slobberknocker the likes of which have not been met neither before nor since. In the end, the team of Rhodth & Savage came out on top with the victory and the titles! August 11, 1998 - The VGWA Board of Directors declared that wrestlers who weigh in at 220 lbs, the breaking point between heavyweight and junior heavyweight class distinctions, can now challenge in both. This affects all members of the Benoit Family, Mike-Pac, Peg-Pac and Paco LaLoco. |
