04/20/06 BATTLEBOWL round one

The first ever Battlebowl commences, appropriately enough, on 4-20! 

Round One:

1) Gustaf Von Klaus & Ripper Murdoch took on the Polish Prince & the Kinpin in the first round.  At 8:43, 'Pin had Murdoch in an armbar, while Von Klaus had the Prince trapped in a camel clutch... Murdoch tapped! Derdowski & LaLonde advance.  After the match, Von Klaus attacked Ripper Murdoch, trapping him in an Iron Claw - it took four security guards to break the hold!

2) Hunter Vargas & Frogman Ichihara defeated The Great Delmonico & T.J. Glory.  Vargas pinned Delmonico @ 8:04

3) Monte Altazzar & Professor Midnight advanced with a decisive victory over Bronson Thunderhammer & Scissorwolf.  Monte pinned Thunderhammer @ 5:45

4) Manimal & Ianukka Wapanaya vs. Kangaroo Black & Jon Derby ended with a double pin - Derby pinning Manimal and Black pinning Wapanaya... but the ref saw Black's pin, so he and Derby advance.

Thus, the Battlebowl Round 2 participants will be:

Chad Derdowski, Billy LaLonde, Hunter Vargas, Frogman Ichihara, Monte Altazzar, Jon Derby, Kangaroo Black and Prof. Midnight!

04/21/06 BATTLEBOWL round two

Two elimination matches take place with randomly chosen participants in each...

MATCH ONE:

Hunter Vargas vs. Frogman Ichihara vs. Monte Altazzar vs. Kangaroo Black

1) Ichihara pinned Vargas @ 2:15

2) Ichihara was DQ'd for hitting Altazzar with a chair @ 5:00

3) Altazzar pinned Black @ 12:03 to advance to the Battlebowl finals!

MATCH TWO:

Professor Midnight vs. "Kingpin" Billy LaLonde vs. "Polish Prince" Chad Derdowski vs. "Kentucky" Jon Derby

1) LaLonde pinned Professor Midnight @ 8:02

2) LaLonde disqualified himself by hitting Derdowski with a chair @ 8:42

3) Derby pinned Derdowski @ 10:39

The Battlebowl finals will be: Undisputed Hungarian Commonwealth People's Heavyweight Champion of the World Monte Altazzar vs. the Anti-Champion "Kentucky" Jon Derby!!!  What an unprecidented matchup!

BATTLEBOWL round three

Jon Derby handily defeated Monte Altazzar in a shocking 3:30 to become the first ever Battlebowl Champion.  Derby then made the claim that his win proved the Anti-Title to be superior to the Hungarian Title, and he challenged Altazzar to a title-vs-title match any day, any time.

Does this overwhelming victory mean that the torch has truly been passed?  Are Altazzar's days as champion numbered?  Altazzar said that Derby just got lucky.
