Galveston and Mississippi

Well, I really haven't the time to keep up with this as I'd like. Too many journals to keep up with. I like a more stream-lined, all-in-one-place type journal, but at the moment I'm keeping the one for all-things Fender at www.iamfender.blogspot.com and then I keep my own personal journal at home so there isn't much time to maintain this travel journal.
That said, last Monday, My mom, sister, son and I hopped in mom's car and drove down to Galveston to spend a day at the beach. We arrived at 1AM Tuesday, slept very little, then were up and at the beach later that morning. Fender loved playing in the sand and jumping (with my help) in the waves. He was a great travel companion. We had a late lunch, so we made it a nice big one, then sought out drinks and dessert for dinner later that evening. We took the ferry boat across and back and Fender enjoyed watching all the birds hovering at the back of the boat where people were throwing food to them. Wednesday morning we had some breakfast and hit the beach one last time before packing up and heading home.
Wednesday night Fender ran a fever near 103 so I took him to the doc on Thursday. Got some antibiotics and Thursday night he slept thru without a fever yea! He felt much better when he got up on Friday.
Friday afternoon, Drew, Fender, Sebastian (dog) and I drove to Jackson, MS to visit Drew's side of the family. Fender got to see two of his Great-grandmothers, as well as his grandmother, Godmother, cousins and more. It was a short, but nice visit. It would have been better, if I hadn't been fighting a sinus infection since Thursday as well.
Due to all the travel, schedule disruption, and not feeling well, we decided to head back home Saturday night so we could rest in the comfort of our own bed and have all day Sunday to recoup before starting the new week. We made it safely home at 12:45PM.
Sunday I was sick as could be and Drew had to help watch Fender most of the day. The rest didn't seem to help so today (Monday) I went to the doctor and was given antibiotics and decongestants to help. Hopefully my antibiotics will work on me as quickly as Fender's worked on him last Thursday.
This weekend, we have plans to make it to Frisco (not really a "travel" per-se, but it is an 1 1/2 drive) to watch DC United take on FC Dallas in soccer. We hope to see Bobby play. Other than that, no travel plans until Halloween, when I hope to take Fender back out to Amarillo to see my mom, then we may be heading to Tampa for Thanksgiving to see the Boswell crew, before heading back to MS at Christmas time to see the Powells.
