Is it humanly possible to survive through a year-long course of mostly fundamental Internet and web training and at the end of it, point at an HTML page icon on a desktop and ask, "What is that e thing?" I can understand what goes on in the minds of those who are introduced to the Internet. They learn, some faster than others, the innards of the web in due time.

What surprises me more than anything else, is the number of utter nincompoops who get online because it is what everyone else is doing. While I do not for one moment support the introduction of the divide between Internet illiterate masses and the online yet illiterate class, the fact remains - the web is an incredibly loser-friendly place. Its being so has a lot to do with the patient folk who tolerate all manner of idiots off it.
