Game Cube

Review courtesy of Reno

Control: 9/10
-It can get a little confusing when your driving and using items all at the same time but once you get the handling, you just can't forget. You might have a little trouble because timing to cope with your enemies is a must but once you understand the controls, this game will become a whole lot easier.

Story: 1/10
-There isn't any real story line, just to have a good time racing with yourself and your friends. I'll make up a short one. It's your job to win all the Gold trophies to be the ultimate champion! Can you do this ultimate task? It isn't too difficult to beat all the Grand Prixs, only at times will they ever be hard. Such times is when all the tracks have been reversed and memorizing the patterns may give you a headache but it all results in pure fun.

Single Player: 5/10
-The only single player modes are Grand Prix and Time Trials. Grand Prix spans over 4 cups in 3 different speed classes. The final cup is racing on all 16 tracks and there is a mode where all the tracks are reversed! In Time Trial, you try to set the best records on each course. Do you have what it takes to beat the staff's best times? The times are the best and if you can beat them all, your a master. The game is a little on the slow side compared to games like F-Zero GX but even on these settings does 50 MPH seem fast!

Multiplayer: 10/10
-Mario Karts have always been known for multiplayer and Nintendo has finally spiced things up by adding a few new additions. There are 6 battle arenas where they streach from basic to mazey. Also besides the standard Balloon Battle there is Bob-Omb Blast where you try to hit your opponets with Bob-Ombs. The first team to score three hits wins. But you steal hits from enemies when you hit them which makes this mode even more fast paced and exiting. This just adds more to the fun. Also, is Shine Theif, a remake of capture the flag. Run under the Shine Sprite and it hovers over your car and a timer counts down. Blast the enemy with items to steal the shine. The timer only counts down when the shine is in someone's possesion. Once hit the shine remains where you just were. When time runs out, a time of only sixty seconds, whoever has the shine wins! Best multiplayer for any MK game and the new modes will really put racers abilities to their limits.

Difficulty:6/10
-It's only hard during 150cc Grand Prixs where the CPU bombards you with items and the race is super speedy. It takes strategy and maybe a little luck with your character's special item in order to win the difficult courses. It all depends on the players skill level and trusting the item roulette gives you the payback item you need.

Overall:9/10
The newest and just possibly the best Mario Kart has finally been released for the Nintendo Gamecube. It's the best racing game to come out and will be tops for a long time and many weeks to come. It may be a little slow but it becomes faster paced as you move along. In my opinion Mario Kert Double Dash is best racing game ever yet focuses mainly on the multiplayer. If you have no friends or family, best not get this game as single player it don't take long to beat. But it lasts a while in replay value and you'll cherish it for years to come!
