THIS TIME

We’re only going through the motions

And playing our scripted parts

But for me this isn’t enough anymore

There’s no room for this in my heart

I guess I just fell out of love

You never cheated or lied

From the start the odds were against us

The fates were never on our side

When we say “I love you”

We don’t mean what we say

We say it just to say it,

Thinking there is no other way

We only hurt each other more

By staying here pretending

When what we use to call “us”

Is so far beyond ending

Being with you this time around

I’ve learned it’s true what they say

Sometimes lovers leave to soon, but

Sometimes it’s wrong for them to stay

These tears in my eyes now

They’re not ‘cause I’ve changed my mind

I think we know what we’re saying

I think we’ve tried to be kind

I will always love you though

Just not enough to stay any longer

Maybe being apart from this

Will make us both much stronger
