Dreams
David Andrew Pringle
Often in the depths of the night,
In the depths of my dreams,
I meet a woman.

Tonight is no different than the rest,
She meets me there on that isolated beach,
Smiling and laughing,
Begging me to dance to the rhythm of the waves.

But tonight is no different than the rest,
I fall asleep wondering if I'll be dancing alone,
Listening to the songs of seagulls,
But she is waiting for me on the other side.

But this morning will be no different than the rest,
The beach, the smile, will be gone.
The dance, the song, will be over.

All that will be left
is the shadow of our happiness,
And I will wake knowing
that you are with me in my dreams.
Back to the hammock
