Effortless Rewards!

All praise is for Allah  who gave us the opportunity to sit for His dhikr and
recite Darood upon His beloved Messenger sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
Any gathering that is affiliated with the name of Allah , is a momentous
gathering. There is no doubt in this. The blessings that can be obtained from
these gatherings are countless. We should consider it a great favour from Allah
that He has brought us here for this purpose.
One of the reasons why we sit in the gatherings of Allah's dhikr is to obtain
the reward that has been prescribed for attending them. This is usually the main
reason that brings people to these gatherings. And this is because we here many
Ahadeeth and verses that inform and remind us of the numerous rewards for doing
Allah's dhikr.
And it is a quality of such a gathering that no person who attends it can leave
empty handed. No matter what intention someone attends with, whether he does or
does not come with the right frame of mind (sometimes people can come to these
gatherings with doubts in their minds) he will receive it's reward from Allah .
In support of this there is a famous Hadeeth that I have mentioned before
regarding the conversation that angels have with Allah  after they return from
witnessing the gatherings of Allah's dhikr. The angels inform Allah  of the
names of all those people that they have seen in these gatherings. It is then
that Allah  declares that all those who were present are forgiven their sins.
On hearing this the angels say to Allah , "But such and such person just
happened to be passing by, and had not come with the right intention. He just
came to have look to see what was going on." Allah  replies to the angels "And
to him too I have given forgiveness: He who sits with such people shall not
suffer." (Muslim)
Allah  says that the duty of the angels is to report to Him. And because the
gatherings of Allah's dhikr are so great and the people who sit in these
gatherings are so blessed that anyone who sits with them cannot leave
empty-handed. In this Hadeeth Allah  has shown the great status of those who sit
regularly in His dhikr.
Once Allah's beloved Messenger  was sitting amongst his companions. He said to
them "Is there anyone who wishes to earn rewards equivalent to that of the
mountain of Uhud in a short space of time?" The reply of the humble companions
(who in reality were already reaping such rewards, that cannot be compared to.
And shall never be matched till the Day of Judgement. Such rewards that even
Moosa alayhi wa salaam requested Allah  to make him from the Ummah of
Rasoolullah . And in reality, for the Companions, their greatest desire was to
be in the company of Rasoolullah ) was that, "Yaa Rasoolullah , please inform us
of such a thing that can give us this great amount of reward."
Allah's Messenger  replied " Say 'Subhanallah' you will get reward equivalent to
that of the Uhud mountain, say 'Allahu akbar' you will get reward equivalent to
that of the Uhud mountain and say 'Laa ilaha illallah' and you will get reward
equivalent to that of Uhud mountain.
From this Hadeeth you can try to image how great a reward you can get for
something that is easy to do and in no way strenuous.
