 The Will Of John Horobin of Sparklow and Hurdlow,
in the Parish of Hartington, Derbyshire, died 18 Oct 1845.

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Horobin of Sparklow in the Parish of Hartington and County of Derby, Farmer and Victualler made and published in manner following.

First, I direct that all my just debts , Funeral and Testamentary Expenses and the Probate of this my Will be paid by my Executors hereafter named out of my Personal Estate.

I give and bequeath to my Dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Horobin the sum of thirteen pounds per annum for and during the term of her natural life to be paid to her out of my Freehold Estates as specified below.

I give and devise to my son Thomas Horobin all that my Estate at Hurdlow and Sparklow with all the Appurtenances thereto belonging together with all my Personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever and of what kind and nature so ever the same may be and wheresoever situate, being or lying to him, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns for ever, subject nevertheless to the raising and payment of seven pounds per annum to my Dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Horobin half yearly or quarterly during the term of her natural life, further render the said Estates subject to and charged and chargable with the raising and payment of the following legacies, that is;

To my son William Horobin, my daughter Ann Horobin, to my daughter Kate Horobin and my daughter Hannah Horobin, the sum of one hundred pounds to each of them, or to their Heirs and Assigns for ever.

I give and devise to my son Robert Horobin all that my Estate at Crowdicote in the Parish of Hartington and County of Derby consisting of a Dwelling House, Garden, and Cow House and two closes of land called Fullow Knowl and Bank to him, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns for ever, subject nevertheless to and charged and chargable with the raising and payment of the sum of one hundred pounds to my son Edward Horobin.

I also subject the said Estate at Crowdicote to the raising and payment of the sum of fifty pounds to my Grand Daughter Martha Ward to be paid to her by my son Robert Horobin as soon as she arrives at the age of twenty one years.

I also subject the said Estate to the raising and payment of the sum of four pounds per annum to my Dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Horobin to be paid to her half yearly or quarterly during the term of her natural life.

I give and devise to my son Isaac Horobin a Close of Land in the Township of Longnor in the Parish of Alstonefield in the County of Stafford to him, his Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns forever subject nevertheless and charged and chargable with with the raising and payment of the sum of one hundred pounds to my daughter Mary Horobin to her, her Heirs, Executors, Administrators and Assigns.

I also subject the said Estate to the raising and payment of the sum of two pounds per annum to be paid to my Dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Horobin half yearly or quarterly during the term of her natural life.

All the aforesaid legacies ( except that to my Grand Daughter) to be paid twelve months after the decease of my Dearly beloved wife Elizabeth Horobin. And it is my Will and Pleasure that my wife and children should live together and share the profits (if any) amongst them. And it is my Will and I do direct that my two sons Robert and Isaac shall not enter in the Estates due to them till after the decease of my said wife and that my son Thomas Horobin aforesaid divide the profits.

I nominate and appoint my sons Thomas Horobin and Robert Horobin Executors of this my Will and I do revoke and disannul all former Wills and Testaments by me before made and do ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of June 1845.

Signed, sealed, published and pronounced by the Testator John Horobin as and for his last Will and Testament in the presence of us who in his presence at his request and in the presence of each other, have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto, the interlineations having been first made.
