Building Costa Lotta

Floor Plan.

On May 18th 2003, I returned to Pensacola to buy a house. With Linda showing me homes, we visited re-sale houses for the first day. It became pretty clear that I was not going to be happy settling with any that were on the market. By the time I had calculated the renovation costs that we would have incurred in a re-sale, it was going to be cheaper to build.

The following day, Les brought me to The Estates at Emerald Shores, a nice subdivision that was half developed. It is located in South West Pensacola, off Gulf Beach Hwy on the outskirts of Perdido Key, an area that has become very sought after. Three builders were putting up homes in there and Les wanted me to look at the model homes.

Another front view.

After looking at all three models, looking at the different floorplans offered, checking out available lots, and looking at the construction of each of the builders, it became apparent that Ricky Wiggins was building a superior house. After about a week or so of deliberation and number crunching, Ced and I decided to let Mr. Wiggins build our home. We settled on a lot on a short cul de sac street with a lovely greenbelt and I got to make my colour choices.

I headed back to San Diego after that and left the overseeing of the building to Les and Linda.

Seven months later, Cedric returned to Pensacola with me to see the end results. We both fell in love with the house. At the suggestion of my father, she was christened Casa Costa Lotta (hehehe!)
