The CC-142 Dash 8 is a two engine turbo-prop, medium-range transport aircraft. In May 1987, the Canadian Forces replaced two CC-132 Dash 7 aircraft based at Lahr, Germany with two CC-142 Dash 8 aircraft. Four CT-142 Dash 8 aircraft were also procured in 1989/90 to support the Air Navigation School at 17 Wing Winnipeg.
