The CP-140 Aurora is a four-engine turboprop Long Range Maritime Patrol Aircraft (LRPA) built for the Canadian Forces by the Lockheed California Company. The aircraft entered service in 1980 to replace the Canadair Argus. Its advanced technology sensors are designed primarily for Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW), with secondary Maritime surveillance and Search and Rescue responsibilities.
