The DHC-5 Buffalo, a medium transport aircraft produced by de Havilland Company was acquired in 1967 for its capability to be employed under all weather conditions in areas where short, rough, unprepared strips provide the only take-off and landing surface.
The Buffalo's rear loading capability and adjustable ramp facilities permit fast loading and unloading of bulky cargoes, vehicles and machinery. The Buffalo is extensively employed in the search and rescue mission.
