ORIGINAL VERSION There is only one planet in the solar system inhabited by life, the Earth. ...A.C. 195. With the development of colonies, human beings have used the new resources and their own strength to create new lands. However, at most, they are poor imitations of their mother, the Earth. What meaning was there in building the colonies? How about just to further develop technology so that on the Earth, human beings would lead more comfortable lives? Aren't humans living in these imitations of Earth holding on to impossible hopes? With no threats from nature, their lives became more stable than those of people on Earth. Endless expansion seemed to promise eternal existance. Wasn't there an age when it was unforgivable to think of life starting from zero in the universe? But there is no way that the colonies, no, that human beings, could forget the Earth. What has the technology for the development of colonies done for the Earth? The most pursued advances on the Earth are those resulting in military strength. Humans have never been able to break away from their habits of destruction. Now the colonies are studying war technology. They can't forget the Earth. The beauty of the Earth is incredible. Human beings, those animals that came to possess so much strength, began to think about controlling a whole planet. The existence of life on a planet is after all only a matter of accidental chance. Humans can think all they want, but they can't change anything. The time humans have spent in space has been wasted. It has all been nothing but a dream. The lie of our artificial living space, and the lie of pacifism, do nothing but give birth to more fighting than ever before. War claims many lives, and human beings have never forgotten that sorrow, yet they never try to give up fighting. The blood and tears are spilled, to be considered nothing more than decorations for some ceremony. The history of many ages is told through its wars. Saying we fight for peace is a pretty lie that has been repeated over and over in the past. The colonies are no different from the Earth that builds up military strength to preserve peace. They are the same. We live, and rise up, through the spilling of blood...(interupted by the teacher) /Heero's thoughts/-----Well then, why do humans fight? Is it our reason to exist? Is there a perfection in humans who fight? And maybe we don't see how dirtied humans become from fighting wars.
But why
were the colonies made in the first place? I hear the main purpose was technological development to improve the lives
of human kind on Earth. Did human kind start asking for too much from this imitation world? This self-sustained
way of life is more stable than life on earth, especially since it lacks the risk of natural disasters. It appears that this
unlimited growth was guaranteeing the eternal existance of human kind. Perhaps there was an age where
people dreamed of the possibilities in the outer space where they could start from scratch. However, it's unthinkable that the
colonies, or the human kind, will ever forget the Earth. What did technological development in the colonies bring to
the Earth? The kind of technology the Earth wants most: millitary power. Destruction is a human nature that can
never be gotten rid of, and now the colonies are developing a militaristic disposition. The colonies cannot forget the
Earth. The Earth has great beauty. The animals known as humans have aquired such strength that they even think about controlling this planet for themselves. From the point of a planet's life, the life of a living thing lasts no more than an instant. But in the end, it is only themselves that humans can think of. Nothing changes. The time spent by humans in outerspace has been a complete waste. The ideal is just a dream. This false pacifism, this false living space! Outerspace is nothing but a breeding ground for even more battles in the future. Wars throughout history have claimed many lives. Although human kind has never been able to forget the sorrow that has been caused by wars, they have not stopped fighting. The blood and tears they shed in battle are merely ceremonial. One can't speak of history without reffering to the wars in each era as important events. I'm sure the pale peptalks of fighting for peace have been repeated numerous times in the past. The colonies say they need armamants to maintain peace. It's no different from on Earth. The colonies think they've joined the "big boys" now. I guess they believe the bloodshed would lead to higher morale... (interupted by the teacher) /Heero's thoughts/-----So why do people fight anyway? Perhaps the meaning of human existance lies within their will to fight. People feel the sense of acomplishment in battle, and it is also a fact that the ones actually fighting are never perceived as being tainted. |
