Guest Cat
Before they moved away, the family across the street had a gray striped kitten that started to visit our trees as it grew older. Shortly after they had moved into their new home several miles away, Winnie had spoken to the mother in the family who had reported that the cat had disappeared. Over Memorial Day weekend, Winnie announced that there was a stray gray cat in the backyard. Gilbert wondered whether it was the same cat, and took a closeup photo (springtime photo with winter photo of other cat for comparison). It seemed a bit less frightened than the old neighbor cat but maybe it was just hungry. We thought maybe it was one of those made-for-TV afternoon special animal adventures, but one of the neighbors recognized it as belonging to a house a block away. The family had gone on vacation and the cat had come around our neighborhood making friends.
