aka luck.  Once read a story about 1930's golfer Babe Didrickson who was going to have a scene in a film where she was taking a shot on a golf course.  The director set up the cameras and told her where he wanted her to hit from and asked if she wanted to take a practice shot before he got the film crew started.  According to the story, she took a swing and hit the ball not just onto the green but into the hole and, of course, couldn't repeat that once the cameras were rolling.

Saturday (Mar 8), Andrew and his teammates were shooting baskets before their game, probably about six balls bouncing around.  He went back to the top of the key (which in this gym intersects the three-point arc), crouched like a frog to get more oomph, and fired a high archer in the general direction of the basket, whose rim is set to only about 7' off the floor.  It wasn't even close, and was fortunate that none of his teammates were bonked by it.  It hit the floor about halfway between the free throw line and the basket and back up into the barrage of balls around the hoop.  Then, like some movie run in reverse, it avoided all the other balls and went right into the net without touching the rim or even drawing any attention from the other kids.  Andrew looked around to see whether anyone had seen it.  Fortunately for him, Gilbert and another parent had seen it or he would have had to struggle with whether he would be able to get anyone to believe his fish story.
