"Il Feudo Tudia"
In April, 2002, we traveled to Resuttano in the Madonie Mountains  to visit my mother's family, whom we had located on our previous visit to Sicily.
Although we were delighted with our stay at La Rocca agro-tourist farm outside of Resuttano, in September, 2000, we decided to experience the other accomodation located in that area, Feudo Tudia.

This old feudal estate, located in Palermo Province, but only eight km from Resuttano, was called Tudia, a name derived from ancient Arabic. The date of its origin is lost but it was in existence in 1200, along with the villages of Chibbo, Manca Viaretto and other feudal estates; under the control of the Belice fiefdom.
This was a scene I captured with my watercolors, on site, from the doorstep of the apartments that had been restored from a row of medieval dwellings.

In the 1800's the estate housed forty families and their farm animals,  with its own school, church, and warehouses for the storage of the farm produce. Now the church is but a shell and is the first ediface one sees when approaching the "borgio".

Today Il Feudo Tudia is privately owned and produces wine grapes,  fruit, olives and pistachio nuts. Six different wines are bottled from the
grapes of their vineyards.

Wisteria was in bloom every-where.

The food and
wine we were served with the half pensione were wonderful.

The high ceilinged dining rooms and period paintings throughout the rooms made the ambience of Il Fuedo Tudio truly memorable.
