Warbird Quickly flew away from Icewalk and made it's way out of the atmosphere. Huntly said,
"Suran lay in a course for Dione and accelerate to maximum speed." She could feel the vibrations that ran through the ship increased and she knew her orders were being obeyed. The Warbird had a top speed of 2.0 AU's per hour. That is about 300,000,000 Kilometers an hour and that is not bad for a little ship, but it will still take about 60 hours to get there. That will leave five days to look for the heiress. She called to Suran and he came running. When he was standing in front of her she said,
"I want all the sensors calibrated for the search before we get there. We are only going to have five days, to find and rescue the missing heiress. The ship should be easy to find, a big metal ship on a planet of water, but getting the people out of it could be a problem. I want everything ready, or I will skin someone alive." Suran just stood there smiling as always, she hated that about him, but she also loved that about him. If it had not been for his good nature she would probably be a pirate for the rest of her life and loved it. Now though she wanted out, and to go back to the Solar Ring and live out the rest of her life like a normal person. She thought for a second, 'Maybe even get married and have some kids.' She looked up from her thoughts and said,
"Are you still here, go or you will be the one I skin alive."
He walked out and Huntly thought now, 'How am I going to get away from Devriele?' She had the Warbird and could always just leave, but the problem is getting her money out. There would be no sense leaving if all her money was left behind. She had tried to have some of her assets transferred out of Lucullus, but Devriele had somehow known about it and stop it. She wondered, 'Could his connection be so good as to find out about her transaction in another system.' It looked like she needed better connections, like maybe this heiress? She would have to play nice with the little rich kid. This could be as important as getting the money itself.
Huntly then went to her Grid screen and looked up all the information she had on Dione. It did not really tell her anything new, except that there were some rumors that there is a sentient life form living under the water of Dione. She laughed at the thought, the pressures would be astronomical. How could any thing live there? Then she thought, 'why would a rich and smart man like Magus Iopetet spend so much money on a wild goose chase.'This could be even more valuable then the little heiress or her contacts. A new species that can live under water. That would be a big boon to the exploration of a lot of different worlds, the profit potential would be amazing. A population who could live underwater with out protective gear would save a fortune in any underwater exploration. On most planets the most profitable source of natural resources are under there seas. Huntly could not believe the potential that was coming out of one little Grid News Break. There was nothing more she could do right now so she disconnected from the Grid and sat back in her chair with her eyes closed.
She tried to imagine what a species that lived under that kind of pressure would look like. She imagined it to have a exoskeleton for protection and they would have to be heavily muscled. If it could survive out side of the water it would be exceedingly strong. She wondered if it would have gills or lungs or something completely different. Maybe it could even live out of water, but that was highly unlikely. She thought it might even be bipedal, but who could know, she even thought about an old earth story she had heard about creatures who were half man or woman and half fish. The numerous possibilities she came up with were amazing. Thinking about the imaginary creature of Dione Huntly fell asleep.
She was at once wake and knew something was wrong, because she knew the ship had stopped. She yelled,
"Suran," he magically appeared as usual, "Why have we stopped?" He looked a little sheepish, but his smile never left his face, she knew he would rather eat a laser blast then tell her what was going on.
"It was either stop or be fired upon." She exploded out of her chair and said,
"Who in the Verge would have the nerve to fire on this ship? Wait don't tell me, it is Commander Ramil Ibn Beighurin, in the Sol Union Cruiser the Birmingham. Why did you not wake me?" Suran looked at her as if to say you know why. The quick flash back that Huntly had was of a time she had almost killed poor Suran when he had tried to wake her once. She smiled and said,
"Ok I said I was sorry about that." She then looked at him as if she was daring him to say something. Suran was smart enough to leave it alone, but he did say,
"The Commander is on ship to ship."She thought, 'Ok what does he want?' She pushed the button and a dark haired man in a Sol Union Captains uniform appeared on the screen. She said,
"Ah Captain Ramil, it is a pleasure to see you as always. What can I do for you today?" Ramil gave her his best smile which would have melted most women. He said,
"Huntly, how are you and the Warbird doing today?" Huntly did not have time for this and her tone of voice said so. She said,
"Can we dispense with the pleasantries, I have some place I have to be."
"Right to the point, I like that. So where are you going?" Then he just gave her a look that said the sooner you tell me the sooner you be on your way. Huntly smiled, because if she told him he would not believe her, but if she did not he would keep her here. She thought, 'What the heck, I will tell him and see what happens.' She put on her most serious face and said,
"If you must know I am on a mission of mercy. My destination is Dione, now may I be on my way." He looked at her and she could tell he did not believe her, but he said,
"Yes of course I would not hold up a mission of mercy. By the way we will also be out by Dione so if you need any help we will be close by. Huntly smiled as if to thank him, then said,
"I will keep that in mind, Thank you." She then disconnected the ship to ship link and turned to find Suran there with her drink. She took it slightly annoyed that he knew her so well. Then she said,
"Get back underway, this has delayed us long enough." It took only a
couple of seconds and they were back on course and up to speed.
