Staggering into their usual after work watering hole, they breathe a combined sigh of relief. The excitement they had gone through had given them a big thirst. It was very busy and smoke was every where. They found a table and the waitress quickly came over. She knew they worked in the business and would give her a big tip. Ordering a round of drinks they listened to the band for a couple of minutes till the drinks showed up. As soon as they had got a drink they ordered another one. The waitress said,

"Bad night guys?" Chris looked at her and said,

"Yah! All are cars blew up tonight." He got the puzzled expression that he had been looking for, but she did not ask him to explain.

They did not get right into what they had found out because the band playing was to loud and they needed time for their nerves to settle down. The band took a break after they had been there for about fifteen minutes. When the noise level became normal again Darren said,

"Ok, now lets get down to business. I know we are all a little shaken but we found out who the mystery student is. It is not a student at all, but Johnathon Wagner the Dean of the Department of Medicine at the University." The whole group was obviously floored by this. Christine said,

"That is impossible, he has been my staff advisor since I started in my nursing program. He is a very kind and compassionate man."

"You are right," said Darren and he went on to tell them about how distinguished he was. At least on paper anyway. Graham took note of this little off-handed comment. Graham also noticed that Darren was looking over his shoulder and was getting a weird look on his face. Graham turned to see what he was looking at. There working his way through the crowd and towards their table, it was Denzel. As he got to the table he said,

"I just missed you at Frankie's. I came back to see if you were going for a drink. I saw you all leaving and followed you here. When I knew where you were going I went for cigarettes, So have I missed anything?" Darren said,

"I was just about to tell them about our findings."

Both Darren and Denzel told the group that everything they read said this guy was one of Canada's great humanitarians. They also told the group of everything else that they had found out about Dean Wagner. By the time both Darren and Denzel had finished; the rest of the group, excluding Graham, was willing to nominate him for saint hood. Graham was still concerned with the comment Darren had made.

The band then started up again and they could not talk. Graham waited until Darren went to the washroom and followed him. In the washroom he asked,

"Do you really think this guy is as good as you made him out to be?" Darren looked at Graham trying to figure out what he knew and why he was asking him that question? He then said,

"No, but I don't know how to dispute what I found."

"I do," said Graham. He then went on to tell Darren what he had found out. Darren said,

"Don't say anything. I still do not trust this Denzel guy. Come to my place after we leave here and we will talk about it."

Over the next half-hour or so Darren went around to everyone and told them to meet at his place tonight after the bar closes. When he went to tell Chris, Denzel was beside him. He could not talk to him without Denzel listening in. Christine saw this and so distracted Denzel by dragging him up to the dance floor. While the two of them were dancing, Darren told everyone of the meeting. Denise said,

"It is not fair to leave him out he has done nothing to be excluded like this." That discussion ended as soon as the two came back off the dance floor.

The rest of the time at the pub was spent having fun. Suzanne and Darren were on the dance floor together a lot, and Chris and Denise were dancing and having a good time together. Graham, Dave and Christine were talking about her school and Denzel got in on that conversation. Christine was drawing a lot of attention from a couple of guys who kept asking her to dance. They were both pretty drunk and she did not want anything to do with them. She said,

"Thanks but I don't want to dance we are talking." The first drunk said with a slur in his voice,

"What are we not good enough for you college girly?" Christine ignored them but they were both persistent. Finally Graham told them to get lost. This started a pushing match between Graham and the two drunks. Graham said,

"Listen guys I don't want to fight. Besides there are four of us if you count the college kid so maybe you should just get lost." That was when one of the drunks took a swing at Graham. Graham moved to block it but before it even got close to him Denzel was there. He had both of them in submission holds of some sort. Graham and Dave looked at each other; they both could not believe how quick he had been. Denzel then escorted the drunks to the door where the doorman took it from there. The two men were removed and Denzel came back to the table. Graham said,

"Nice move I did not even see it."

"Just a little something I learned in the back streets before I got out of Jamaica." They continued on with there conversation and ordered another round of drinks. Graham said,

"Let me get that for you, after all no matter how drunk he was if he had of hit me it would have hurt."

"That is not necessary, but thanks." They did not talk about it any more and went back to their original conversation. The fun all seemed to end to quickly, as the waitress came around and gave them last call. They stretched the evening as long as they could by ordering another round of drinks. Their diversion quickly came to an end and they had to get back to the unpleasantness of reality. They all left and took their own routes to Darren's place.

Graham, Dave and Christine were walking out of the bar and to their cars. They were about to say good night to Christine when Dave said,

"Look are two friends are back." He pointed to the two drunks coming out of a coffee shop next to the bar. They were walking right towards the three some. Dave said,

"Christine why don't you get into your car and get on your way."

"I am not going to leave you if there is going to be trouble." Graham said,

"We are not going to start anything." Christine did not move and the two drunks were up to them by now. The first one said,

"Hay buddy, can you give me a smoke. We left our smokes inside and they won't let us back in to get them." The three of them looked at each other and thought, 'they must be really drunk, they don't even recognize us as the ones that got them thrown out.' Dave said,

"Sure buddy," and handed them each a cigarette. The drunks thanked him and walked off.

"That was weird," said Christine. Then they all headed to there cars.

As everyone came in Darren supplied him or her with a drink. Darren said,

"What took you guys so long to get here?"

"We had a little meeting with our two friends from inside the bar."

"Are you OK?"

"Yah, they did not even know who we were. They were really drunk, they just bummed a couple of cigarettes and were on their way." They sat down and everyone looked at Darren, but he was looking at Graham.

"Well tell them before they think I am nuts," said Darren. Graham laughed then said,

"OK, I was going to tell you what I found out at the restaurant but Darren told me to wait. Since Denzel is not here I guess that is why." Darren and Dave both nodded. Graham continued,

"When you showed us the pamphlet from the Courier Company the other day I was sure I had seen it before. Well I was right." He then went on and told them the whole story and how he had found it. There was complete silence while he was talking. When he was finished and they knew everything about Dean Johnathon Wagner and San Medico Institution in La Paz, Bolivia. The silence had grown to a deafening level of quiet. It had taken him about an hour to tell the whole story. When he was done he found he had sobered up, so he picked up his beer and drank it all down.

He had not realized how much it had been bothering him to keep this all to himself. He needed the conformation of the rest of the group to know he was on the right track. Graham had been a little insecure about his interpretation of what he had found, but the silence of the group let him know that he had been right. Now that it was all out, a large weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Then the Questions started. Denise said,

"We have to go to the police with this but how are we going to explain the weigh bill?" Graham said,

"That was an accident and the police seen me pick it up. They did not say anything so they can not give us any trouble about it." Then Suzanne said,

"What about the fact that it has been almost ten days since the murder and we are only reporting it now?"

"Well I think that can be explained away by the truth. It took us this long to realize it's importance. I will go to the police station, if anyone else wants to go with me it is completely up to you."

The group went silent for a couple of minutes while each weighed the pros and cons of what Graham had said. Then one at a time they all decided it would be best to go to the police together. Denise thinking no time like the present picked up the phone. They had all received a business card from a PC Rowe that night. She dialed the number for the police station at Mcowen and Carlton in Markham. An Officer answered the phone and told her that PC Rowe would be in at 11AM tomorrow. Denise asked,

"If we have some information for him would we have to make an appointment or could we just come in and talk to him?" The Officer said,

"Just come in I do not think he is very busy." Denise thanked him and said,

"Good night."

She then explained the conversation to the rest of the group. Suzanne and Christine both said they could not go, Suzanne had an exam while Christine had a lab. The two of them were both sure that they should be included in the report though. The group was pretty exhausted by now and if they had to be at the police station at 11AM they should get some sleep. They all said good night and went to their homes.

The next day they showed up at the police station. The first was there at 10:30 while the last rolled in at 11:05. When the last one got there they all went up to the reception desk and told the Officer that they would like to talk to PC Rowe. The Officer looked at them with a confused look on his face and said,

"Can I tell him what it is all about?" Dave said,

"Yes, we were the ones that found the body at Frankie Tomatto's. We have some information for him."

"OK, if you would just take a seat I will tell him."

The group sat back down and waited. While they were waiting they decided they would not tell him about the fake reporter and if he asked how we knew about the missing organs. They would tell him about Christine at the Coroner's Lab, but only if he asked.

It took about 10 minutes for PC Rowe to show up. When he did he said,

"I hear you have some information for me. Maybe we should go into the conference room where we can all sit down and talk in comfort." They then got up and followed him into the back. Once everyone was seated, PC Rowe looked at them as if to say, OK talk. The group looked at each other then Dave said,

"Let me first explain that what we are about to tell you we have just found out ourselves. Also that the weigh bill was an accident and one of your officers on site saw it and said nothing."

"OK, I believe you are telling me this information as soon as you thought it was important."

They could all see that something was bothering him, so Dave started the story off. As he came to someone else's section, that person took over. When the weigh bill was explained Rowe stopped them, and asked,

"Do you still have it?" Graham pulled it out of his pocket and put it on the table. Rowe picked it up and looked it over. It was difficult to read with all the blood Graham had wiped off of his shoes on it. He then said,

"I think we should stop for a moment while I get the detective in charge of the case in here."

He left the room and Chris said,

"Do you think he believe what we are saying?"

"Yes or he would not have gone to get the detective in charge of the case." He came back in a couple of minutes and said,

"Detective Copper will be right down. Who would like a coffee while we wait?" Everyone said yes, and they had coffee while they waited.

It was about 10 minutes before Detective Copper came in. He walked in and at once was in control of the room. He was a thin, wiry, middle aged man. The first thing that struck anyone about this man was he looked very intelligent. This put the group at ease, because they all knew what they had to say was a little hard to believe.

They started into their story again right from the beginning, each person taking their turn as before. Detective Copper did not stop them. He waited until they came to the end, then asked,

"How did you know about the organs being taken out as if for transplant?" Denise looked as innocent as possible and said,

"One of our group that is not here is a student nurse. She got a placement at the coroners lab and saw the report."

"Oh, I thought it might have been when Dave here, it is Dave isn't it." Dave nodded yes. "Posed as a reporter and got a look at the police report and the coroners report." Dave said,

"Well that did confirm what we all ready knew, but I did not sneak a look at them I was given them."

"Yes I know I am the one who told them to give it to you."

The group all looked a little embarrassed and shocked at the same time. Detective Copper said,

"What you have done was not illegal, but it was very dangerous. Though I must commend you on your ingenuity." Everyone in the group exhaled at once. It did not look like they were going to jail. Detective Copper then said,

"I need you to give a statement just for the record. I will send someone in to take it so please do not leave."

PC Rowe was still in the room and he said,

"Thanks, we knew about the other murders but that was about it. We had run out of leads and things were not looking very good." Then a young woman came in with a tape recorder and a note pad. She gave Dave a little smile. He said,

"Oh no." It was the girl who had given Dave all the help when he was pretending to be a reporter. He said,

"I am sorry for the little lie I told you." She said,

"It's all right we knew who you were as soon as you came into the police station. One of the officers remembered you from taking statements that night. So I guess I lied to you as much as you lied to me."

"I guess are lunch date is off then?"

"Maybe, maybe not?"

Dean Wagner had been in his lab all night and most of the morning. He had been checking on some results of a new drugs for combating the rejection of organs after transplanting He was exhausted and his work showed it. His Lab assistant had pointed out a couple of mistakes he had made. His assistant said,

"Professor Wagner are you all right?"

"Yes I am fine, I am just a little tired is all." His lab assistant then offered to drive him home, as the Dean did looked very tired. Dean Wagner said,

"No, I will be all right. I will see you tomorrow and I want those results on that set of test I gave you to do."

"Yes sir, good night," said the lab technician. Dean Wagner walked out to his car and getting in started it up. He was proud of his new Mercedes as it purred to life in the parking lot. His drive home was not a long one but he did have to go along a rather dangerous section of road. As tired as he was he did not noticed the other car pull out of the parking area at the same time as him. The other car was dark with tinted windows and was defiantly following him. When he started to climb up the road that wound up the hill to his house. The car behind him made its move. The dark car started to accelerate up behind the Deans car. The Dean had not noticed until the car was almost right behind him.

He signaled the car to go past, but instead of moving to the outside to pass it pulled to the inside and rammed the Deans car. He almost lost control and went over the edge of the hill. The drop at this point would have been about 1000 feet. Dean Wagner's heart jumped into his mouth as the fear and the Adrienne hit him. Regaining control of his car the Dean tried to pull away from the other car but he was not fast enough. The two cars raced up the hill one trying to escape the other. The Dean had almost gotten away by some rather unusual driving, but the other car made one last attempt to push him off. He caught the Deans car by the back end and spun it around. The Dean thinking he had got away had hit the gas even harder then before, the only problem was he was now facing out over the cliff. The Deans car did a picture perfect dive flying off the cliff; it sailed through the air to land about 500 feet down the hill side. It at once burst into flames and a couple of seconds later exploded into a fireball that light up the whole hill side. The other car did not even slow down and was gone from the area in a matter of minutes.

She started the report. First she asked everyone's name and address. Then she asked them to repeat what they had told Detective Copper. The whole thing started over and by the time they were finished it was about 3 in the afternoon. When they were about to leave Detective Copper came back into the room. He looked at each person for a few seconds. His stare seemed to look right into their soul. It gave them all an uneasy feeling. Finally Denise said,

"What? What is it?"

Detective Copper was silent for a few more seconds then he said, in a quiet commanding voice.

"Dean Wagner is dead." The group was stunned into silence. Then Darren asked,

"How did it happen, was it another murder?"

"We are not sure but it is definitely suspicious. His car crashed. It had just been in for a servicing but some how it sailed off a cliff on a road that the Dean drives every day."

A feeling of fear went through the group again. This time it was even stronger than when they had found the body. No one knew what to say. Detective Copper stepped forward and broke their trances. He said,

"Go home and leave this to the police. You have done an excellent job but now it is time for us to take over." This put everyone a little more at ease but not much. They were also thinking about Dean Wagner. One minute they were thinking what a monster he was, then the next they were feeling sorry for him. They left the police station and went back to the restaurant. It had not really sunk-in that it was all over with.

Dave did not have to work that night, so he took the notes he had made on the case over to Parry. Parry looked at Dave; he did not like what he saw. Dave was not himself he looked afraid and was very with drawn. He then said,

"You found something out didn't you?"

"Oh yeah, we found something all right." Parry reached into his desk draw and pulled out a bottle of rye and two glasses. He poured one for each of them. Then he told Dave to tell him all about it. Dave retold the story again. Parry saw Dave's confidence return when he talked about what he had done or some new bit of information they had found. By the time he was finished he was much more himself but he still seemed a little lost. Parry said,

"Lets look at what you found out. An emanate doctor is involved. He could not have committed all the murders because they were almost at the sometime in different parts of the country. That means one of two things. The first is that he did not know anything about it and was being used. The second is he did know and was killed so he could not talk. Dave said,

"You are saying it could be our fault that he is dead."

"Either yes or no, but don't you think you owe it to yourself to find out." Dave thought for a moment, he picked up his drink poured it down his throat in one big gulp. Then he said,

"Yes, I do need to know."

"Good, I knew you would need to know because that is the type of person you are."

"You set me up, you knew when you said that, that I would have to find out if I had anything to do with his death."

"Well maybe, but I honestly think it is for the best. Now what are you going to do about it?"

"I need to get the rest of the group involved. I can not do this on my own. That will not be easy."

"Well if money will work tell them I am willing to buy the story off of you when it is finished."

"I don't think that would work but it might help them to decide. I need something else to motivate them." Dave thought about that for awhile but he did not really come up with any sort of answer. Dave thought, 'if I could prove that Dean Wagner was killed that would help.'

Dave realized he still had his press pass and an idea was coming to him. He said,

"Parry where would they take a car that was in a suspicious accident?"

"They would take it to the police sciences lab down town. Why what are you thinking about?"

"Just tell me where it is, that way you will not have to talk me out of something I should not be doing." Parry gave him the address and Dave said good night, and left the paper and headed for the Police Sciences lab.

When he got there he drove around the building to see what was going on. It all looked very quite, but there definitely were people in there. Dave thought, 'how should I play this?' He decided to just walk in and pretend to just belong. If he were caught he could then go back to plan "B". That would be to use his press pass and play a reporter looking into Dean Wagner's death. He parked his car and started in through the loading docks. He was about half way though when someone said,

"Hay you, can you pass that wrench to me." Dave froze, he could not see anyone but they were there. Looking around he did not see anything, and then out of the corner of his eye he saw a light coming from under a truck. The voice spoke again,

"Hay did you hear me?" Dave said,

"Yah, I am coming," and he walked towards the truck. "What do you need?" said Dave.

"Pass me the 10mm ratchet," Dave passed it to him. The man under the truck thanked him. Dave said,

"Anything else?"

"No I am fine thanks." Dave breathed a sigh of relief and walked away. Then thought why not take advantage of this. He said,

"Hay bud, where would they bring a car for inspection after a suspicious accident?"

"Just go in through the doors and take the corridor to the right. Go down about three doors and you will see a door marked accident lab."

"Thanks buddy," and Dave walked away.

He moved into the complex and made his way to where the cars from accidents were examined. He quickly found the Deans car and then read the report on the accident. They think that the car failed somehow and that is why it went off the cliff. The report did not show any indication of fowl play, so Dave looked at what remained of the Deans car. He started with the exterior of the car. He was looking at the car for at least an hour, checking out anything he could think of that may prove if the car was tampered with. Dave was very mechanically inclined and was looking for anything out of the ordinary. When he moved around to the back of the car he noticed something unusual. There was some paint on the bumper of the car that was a different color. Dave thought, 'maybe there was an accident of some kind.' Now that he knew what he was looking for he quickly went over the car again. This time he noticed there was paint on the back quarter panel.

Paint in two separate locations did not indicate an accident, it was more like someone had tried to push him off the road. It was not enough to prove anything. It was enough to add to Dave's suspicions. He looked around trying to find anything else, but there was nothing. Dave figured this would be enough for what he had in mind, so he left. He made his way out with out any problem, until he was in the loading bay again. As he was walking out a voice said,

"Hay you stop!" Dave did not even look around he just started to run for it. He did not head for his car but ran around the block. When he was sure he was not being followed he took his coat off and slowly walked back to his car and got in. Dave slowly drove home.
