Chapter Thirteen

An old man walked up to Graham's table and sat down. He had two beers and gave one to Graham. He said in a heavy Scottish accent,

"You look to have a problem on your mind their son?" Graham looked at the man he had a grandfather image to him and for some reason wanted to share his dilemma with him. He said,

"Not a problem so much as making sense of something that is bothering me. Have you noticed how fate puts you in very weird situations just to see what you will do?" The old man nodded and said,

"It is testing you to see if you have what it takes to be great."

"I don't want to be great, I just want to survive."

"But if you survive wont that make you great."

"Maybe, but I don't know if I can handle being great, after all I am just an ordinary person."

"Yes but so was Gene Rodenberry and he changed mans image of the future forever. Maybe even that future itself."

"You seem to understand my situation better then I do. Who are you anyway? I don't think I have ever seen you here before."

"I am a friend from a far, far, far away land. I have seen great men before. Before they knew or others knew they were great, and they were just like you or maybe even me."

"Well thanks, I feel better. It is probably a combination of the beer and the conversation. Can I get you another beer?"

"I would like that but I can not. I have to go and you should get some rest to. You have a long journey ahead of you." The man rose and walked away. Graham watched him blend into the crowd, it almost look as if he disappeared.

Graham finished his beer and went home. He did not sleep well and woke like he had been running a race all night. He made a coffee and packed his clothes and equipment. They were taking a commercial flight at 10:00 hours; he had to start thinking in military terms. Graham left the house at eight and got to the airport by 8:30. He checked in and then found a coffee shop. Sitting there drinking his coffee he thought about what London would be like. He had been there for about ten minutes when Christine came along. They sat there, him drinking his coffee and her drinking her tea without saying anything.

The time passed quickly and before they knew it there flight was being called. Moving to the boarding area they found the rest of the group waiting. They boarded the plane and it took off. The flight was very uneventful and they eventually landed at London's Heathrow airport. Exiting from the plane they made their way to the arrivals lounge. There a British sergeant greeted them. Graham figured he was with the SAS as he had their insignia on his uniform. He told them he was here to take them to Bright Light base. They collected their luggage and followed the sergeant out to a Hummer. Getting in the sergeant started to drive. They did not talk during the trip, which took about 30 minutes.

When they arrived, they saw that Bright Light base was on a beautiful country estate. They had known this but the description had not done the place justice. It was a perfect example of an aristocrat's country home. They were driven up to the front doors and sergeant said,

"Leave your luggage, the corporal will put it in your room. The major wants to see right away."

They followed the sergeant into a main foyer and through to the door in the back. The sergeant knocked and a voice said,

"Enter." They did and found a young intelligent looking man sitting behind a desk. He said,

"Ah, Carson I see you found them. Well bring them in and let's have a look." The sergeant stepped aside and the group walked in and formed a line at attention. They saluted and the major saluted back. He then said,

"At ease people, so you were at SMI when all hell broke lose." He paused to let that sink in for a few minutes. "Now the Americans have lost theirs, and my superiors think that ours could be in danger of flying away." He paused again, and the group could see these was for him to review what he was about to say, "So what are you people going to do for me?" Chris said,

"Well sir, we did have the only functioning ship and the data we collected could help you to get yours working. That would be a feather in your cap."

"Yes it would be, but I am more interested in how two of them have gone missing. You see I am a solider and in charge of security not a scientist."

"Our information suggested they were reactivated by who ever sent them. This was concluded from the fact that they just started up out of the blue and left no matter what security was like. They also seemed to have not gone to anywhere else on the Earth but have left it."

"You're saying I don't stand a chance of stopping it?"

"If it wants to leave there is nothing you can do to stop it. I think the best thing would to try and find out as much as you can about it before it leaves."

The Major rose and said,

"I will think it over, Thank-you. Sergeant escort our guests to their quarters, then set up a full tour of the facility." They saluted and followed the sergeant out of the room. He led them through to the lobby and up a flight of stairs. Then showing them to three double rooms he said,

"These our your quarters while you are with us. You may bunk as you wish. I will be back to take you on your tour in half an hour." The sergeant then left and they paired up. Darren and Suzanne, Christine and Dave and Graham bunked with Chris. They moved into their rooms and unpacked. When they had finished everyone met up in Graham and Chris's room. Suzanne said,

"If we can get to within touching rang of the ship. You guys cause a diversion and I will reset the artificial intelligence." Before anyone could ask a question, the sergeant was knocking on the door.

The tour started with them going to security to get processed. This gave them each a security card that allowed them to get around the base with. The tour continued on. They had seen most of the facility when the sergeant took them into a hidden wine cellar. There they were shown a hidden elevator. Entering it they made their way down about 150 feet into the earth. Then the doors opened.

They were in a metal walled corridor, and right in front of them and behind a bullet proof shield was a guard. He rose as the group walked off the elevator. They all had to swipe their security cards and submit to hand scan before they were aloud to pass. They then went down the corridor to a vault door and went through the same security check. The door opened as a vacuum seal was broken and it swung open by hidden hydraulic arms, they entered. A woman came over and said,

"Sergeant who are these people?"

"Professor Jill Ferguson may I introduce the Canadian team we have been expecting from SMI." Graham thought, 'wow, I never had a Professor that looked like that. She looked to Graham to be more a California beach bunny.' She had long Blond hair that looked as if it had been bleached by the sun and a body that looked as if it had sent many hours on the beach swimming or working out in some way. From her voice he could tell she was not British, maybe American or even Canadian. She said,

"Thank god you are here. Maybe we can start getting some answers." She then looked at the sergeant as if to say get out. The sergeant picked this up quick and said,

"I can see the Professor has many questions. I will be back for you," then he looked to the professor for confirmation. She said,

"Oh an hour for introductions I guess." The sergeant then walked away.

All this time most of the group had been looking at the silver scout ship in the background or at least that was want they thought it was. It was in the shape of a twin engine Cessna. Though it was still completely silver. When the sergeant was gone they started to move towards it. Professor Ferguson or Jill as she asked to be called said,

"It is amazing isn't it. We figured out how to make it change shape but not how it does it."

"You have access to its computer?"

"Well not exactly, We transmit a three dimensional image through the computer and it will change to it. We found this by mistake when we went to print out a model of the ship found in the United States. It was slightly different, but when we compared the diagram to our ship they were the same. Our ship had changed some how to be the same as the one in the States. Then one of our technicians working on another project printed out a model of the voyager probe and the ship changed before our eyes."

The group had been moving around the ship and Suzanne quietly said,

"Christine get the good professor over there. She is standing right in front of the reset panel," Christine moved up to the plane and opened the door. She asked,

"Jill would you come here I would like to ask you a question?" Jill moved around the ship to Christine and Christine said,

"Does it fly?" Jill looked at her with amazement in her eyes. Then she said,

"I don't know we have not tried it."

Suzanne had moved around and was reactivating the artificial intelligence. She set it to start up it five days. This would give them lots of time to get out of there. Then she moved around to the others in the group. She signaled Chris that it was done. The group talked to Professor Ferguson about how the ship had come to be there and other things she had found out. They also gave her a little bit of information about the ship's abilities. Just enough to add to their credibility, they could not give her too much information. It was just about then when the sergeant came back. He quickly escorted them out of the vault and back to the major's office. The Major said,

"Well how does our security measure up?" Chris answered,

"Your security is more than adequate, but I should remind you that if that ship wants to leave, it will."

"Yes, Yes I have seen the security video from SMI." At this the group got a little nervous. Why had The Major not recognized them? They needed to get out of there before he did. Just then the Major dismissed them.

Back in their room Chris said,

"We have to get out of here before that Major figures out who we really are." Graham at once got out his laptop and started to have them recalled back to Toronto. He said,

"We should get our orders to go home just as we sit down to dinner." While Graham was on the computer he sent a message to Denise that all was proceeding as planned and they should be home soon.

Graham took a little nap after he had finished until dinner was announced. The rest of the group was also resting except for Dave and Chris. They had gone down to the rec. hall to play some pool. It was a very interesting room; it was large with a pool table in the middle of the room. What fascinated Chris was the display of history on the walls in the way of weapons and period material. Chris had always been interested in history and loved the age of chivalry and Knights of the Round Table. Nothing happened until dinner when a corporal came in and gave Chris an envelope. He opened it only to find that Graham had been right, the envelope contained their orders to return to Toronto. They rushed and caught a plane that night, and the group was back in Toronto by last call at the pub. They headed home to get some much-needed rest.

Denise had been talking to Mil a great deal while they had been away. They had talked on a personal basis. Denise had mentioned about her daughter and Mil had told her he also had children. They talked about the problems of parenting and it seemed to be the same even on other worlds. Denise had mentioned her fears with she had been at SMI and that then had all revolved around her daughter Jessie. This discussion led to a discussion about protecting one self and ones own. Mil told her that they were very lucky the only threat they had to face was from other space faring species. He told her of the other aliens that Mil's people had contact with. They had problems with a race only known as the Greys. Mil told Denise about the Greys, they basically only dealt with races that had superior technology. To these races they would be friendly, but if they met a race that was behind them technologically they would conquer them. Mil sent a picture of the Greys to Denise. She was shocked, because they looked like all the aliens she had ever seen on those tabloid TV documentaries. She explained this to Mil and even sent him some visual clips from some of those shows. After looking them over Mil told Denise that he was about 99% sure that the Greys had visited the earth. Your planet was very lucky, there must have been something wrong with your planet, or there was nothing there that they wanted. That does not really make sense though your planet is perfect for them. The Greys should have studied you for a couple of their years then they would have come up with some sort of plan. Then you would have become a slave planet to the Greys. Denise then asked,

"How long does this usually take?"

"To put it in terms you could relate to, it would be about 1500 of your earth years."

Denise thought about that for a couple of minutes then said,

"Mil we have had sightings and abductions by the Greys for about 1500 years. Why would they want a planet any ways?"

"Well their planet is very polluted, so they need water and fresh air. They are Oxygen breathers so your atmosphere would be perfect for them. At least as far as we know about them."

"I can see how they might want our planet. What would they do with the human population?"

"Well probably one of two things would happen. The first is that they would just kill off all the humans on the planet. The second and equally unpleasant, they would take the human population to a planet and use them as a slave labor force. A cheep and very expendable labor force."

Denise thought, 'what if these Greys are about to try and take over the earth?' She continued talking with Mil and found out everything she could about the Greys and there technology. Mil even told her how to make a device that would detect them on their route to the planet earth and where they were going to land. Denise constructed the warning device, she made it a priority while the rest of the group was in London. When it was built she hooked up in the office; she also put a warning light in the pub. This way she could monitor it at all times.

Denise also did some research on UFO sightings to see if she could verify that it was the Greys coming back again and again. During her research Denise had found that the dimensional communication device could also communicate with any computer on the earth. She also started to just call it, DCD to make it easier. When she accessed other computers she found that it did not leave a trace that it had been there, so she could go where she wanted without anyone knowing. This allowed her to check numerous databases to see if there was any proof that the Greys had really been here.

This seemed almost impossible there was just too much information. She set the device to scan any database it came across for information on the Greys or UFO's in general. She was getting all sorts of useless information until DCD hit the United States military database. It brought up Project Blue Book and Denise looked though it. This was the United States Air Forces study of UFOs. There was some interesting information on alien encounters. Then she came across a file titled Rosswell. This file contained pictures and descriptions of what were obviously some Greys. When this happened a major effort was made to communicate with these aliens, but nothing ever happened. The government then decided that if these aliens would not talk to them they were obviously hostile leave it to the military to come that conclusion but for once they were right. There were then all sorts of reports on how they could defend against these aliens. The United States had thrown billions into this problem looking at every possibility.

Denise knew that all of their plans were useless, because the Greys would probably know all about them before they could be implemented. She also looked at where most of the encounters had happened to see if there were any patterns. She could not see anything but when she asked the DCD to see if there were any correlation's with anything else in the areas of Grey sightings. The DCD came back with a report in a couple of minutes. There was a pattern and it was not a good one.

The pattern it came up with was at any sighting location in the last five years there followed with in a month some sort of viral epidemic. Denise looked at the information and was shocked. 'They were experimenting on ways to kill off humans, but keeping the ecosystem alive,' thought Denise. She passed all this information on to Mil and asked if he could help them. He told her that he could not give them any technology above what they already had. He was already in trouble for giving them the tracking device. He told her not to worry, earth is quite advanced in genetic engineering. There are stockpiles of vaccinations and cures for all sorts of viral infections. If given enough notice the human race could probably find a cure on it's own. 'Great,' thought Denise, 'We might be able to find a cure in time.'

Mil could not give her any more information on the Greys. She did have another question for him. She asked,

"When we encountered the scout ship it did something to us. I mean besides telling them how to make the DCD. What exactly did it do to us?" He told her it just gave them the ability for them to us their whole mind. Humans had not yet learned to tap the full potential of their brains. Generally humans only use about 10% of their brains. We just activated the other 90% for your use. In your own terms, if you had an IQ of about 120 you now have an IQ of about 1000. If you apply yourself you can be the biggest leap in evolution your world has ever seen. Denise asked,

"Can we do this for others, can I do this for Jessie my daughter?"

"Yes, but I would not recommend it right now. With your technology it is possible but dangerous. You would be best to free the ships and then I can share the process with you." Denise thought, 'it is getting more important all the time to free those ships.'

The next morning the whole group was back together. They met at the pub and had a breakfast meeting. Denise said,

"Do you want the good news or the bad first?" Christine said,

"Things went well in England, give us the bad news first." Denise then told them all about the Greys. She specifically pointed out that most of what she told them was speculation from what data she could find. The whole group was silent. Then Denise said,

"The up side is I found out what that scout ship did to us. It seems we are all super geniuses. The scout ship activated our whole brain, instead of the usual about 10% humans usually use." The group looked at each other; they did not feel any different since their encounter with the ship. Though this did explain some of their newfound abilities. Graham said,

"This would explain our ability to fly the plane back from Bolivia and some of the other things we have done in the last little while. I do not feel any different though is that normal?"

"From what I can tell yes, it has not changed us we are just smarter. It seems that intelligence has nothing to do with ones personality."

"This is unbelievable I think we should go up stairs and talk to Mil." They then headed up to the office.

Looking around the room Dave said,

"What is all this equipment, and explain it so my only 10% functioning brain can understand it."

"Oh that is a detection device, it will tell us if any Grey ships are coming to earth and where they will land. We can then go and stop them or at least help the people in that area," said Denise.

"I guess we should split into two groups then. One to monitor and react to any Greys while the other can set free the scout ships," said Chris.

"Ok, me Dave and Suzanne will go after the scout ships," said Darren.

"That leaves Graham, Chris and me as the reaction team," said Christine.

"I think I should work with Denise here," said Chris, "besides I am getting tired of gallivanting all over the world." The rest of the group looked at the two of them, well if they wanted to stay in Toronto and mind the Pub, why not.

The group then split up to make their individual plans. Graham and Christine went down to the pub and got a couple of beers. Christine said,

"The first thing we have to do is study up on viruses and know all there is to know about them." Graham pulled out his laptop and they started going through all they could find on viruses and how they reacted with the body. Graham found it all very fascinating and could not get enough of it. They pay particular attention to any of the viral out breaks where the Greys had been sighted. After about 12 hours of this they knew more about viruses then any other two people in the world.

They needed a little break so they had some dinner. During dinner they talked about what they would need going into one of these areas. The equipment list was amazing. How were they going to get all that equipment to any place in the world in a matter of hours. Looking through the database on planes and helicopters, Graham found what they needed. It was a large transport jet with vertical take off and landing ability. The problem was the price tag. It was worth about twenty million dollars.

Graham then got his computer going again and created a dummy company in the Canary Islands. He gave this company asset in excess of a billion dollars. The money he spread all over the world, so it would not stand out as much.

Now that they had the money he ordered the plane. With confirmation of the order came the delivery date, it would be two weeks. He sent the planes manufactures instructions on the equipment that would be sent to fill the plane. Then he ordered all the medical equipment and had it delivered to the jet factory to be installed. He looked at Christine and said,

"There, in a matter of weeks we will have our own mobile virus stomper. That will give us lots of time to learn everything we needed to know about the equipment and the plane."

"That is unbelievable. In a matter of 20 hours, look at what we have accomplished. There is still one little problem that I can see. When we go out into the field we are going to need a work and security force."

"Yes, I have been thinking about that also. Maybe we can get a military unit." They both thought about it for a couple of minutes. Then Graham said,

"My brain is mush, I think we have done enough for today. Let's just have another beer and relax." She smiled and that was just what they did. They talked and Graham asked,

"Have you talked to Jason?" She shook her head no and Graham let it drop.

Darren Dave and Suzanne had stayed up in the office with Chris and Denise. They were looking at the three ships they had left. Denise and Chris were pulling the information from the computer and putting it up on a large screen for the others. The one in Israel was on a military base. That one would be very difficult one to deal with. The one in Singapore seemed to be hidden in a complex owned by the Nissan Corporation of Japan. When they looked at the third one they could not believe their eyes. It was sitting out in the middle of nowhere and it looked as if no one had found it yet. Darren said,

"Chris could you book us on a flight to Sydney for as soon as possible." Chris went to work and got them out on a flight the next day. Darren and Suzanne spent the next couple of hours connecting a laptop computer to the DCD. While he did that Denise hacked into the computer at the Nissan complex in Singapore. When she had finished the group had all the information they needed as well as all the documentation they would need. After they were done Dave said,

"I have a meeting with a lovely young lady so if you will excuse me I will see you tomorrow at the airport." Denise said,

"So how is everything going with the long arm of the law, she hasn't had to put the cuffs on you yet has she?" They all laughed and Dave said,

"Maybe but it would have been at my own request." They all laughed even more and Dave left to meet with Betty for dinner. They had not spent much time together since the group had gotten back from Bolivia. Over dinner Dave explained everything that had happened to the group and what they were up to. She was concerned when she heard Dave was going to try and set free the other scout ships around the world. She said,

"I thought my news was scary, but now I can see it is nothing compared to what you guy's have been through and what you are planning to do. I should tell you anyway. The Canadian Security Service was officially disbanded today. All there staff is being debriefed and the good ones are going into the RCMP. Though about a dozen got snatched up by the military for some special project. No one knows what it is. Two other interesting things, Darren asked me to check into what happened to the bodies from Bolivia. The bodies were flown to Ottawa and then just disappear. The second is Denzel's body was taken by the military and it has also disappeared." Dave thought about all of this, but it did not make any sense to him. He then asked,

"Does your friend Wendy have any ideas as to what is going on?"

"I talked to her the other day, she is more concerned about the rumors that the CIA, NSA and the American Military Intelligence all want to get their hands on you guys. Why is that?"

"They know there is a connection between the group and the Silver Ships." If we told them what was going on they would probably capture us or have us killed, so no one else could get us. All we want to do is save the world and live in peace, is that so bad."

"Yes, I guess it is, but you are going to do it any ways." They had finished dinner and Betty suggested going back to her place. Dave agreed not realized how tired he was. Betty drove them back to her place and Dave fell asleep in her lap on the couch.

The next day she woke him in lots of time to catch his flight to Sydney. He said his good-byes and headed for the airport. There he met the other two they all boarded the plane. When they were halfway to Australia Dave got Suzanne to send a message to the rest of the group about what Betty had told him. Then he had a nap. The trip was very quiet and when they got to the airport they arranged to rent a helicopter.

Planning out their route from Sydney to the Scout Ship was not easy. They had to take a very round about route in order to keep fueled. It took them another day with all the stops they had to make at the remote fuelling stations. They finally made it to a landing sight with-in a half a mile of where the scout ship had landed. Landing the helicopter Suzanne took a baring to the ship. They had to move through some pretty ruff terrain so they decided to wait until morning as it was getting late.

The night in the Australian wilderness was fantastic. They had read up on it on route and were well provisioned. The sun set was especially beautiful, the different shades of red, purples and yellows made the rocks look like they were on another world. By the time the sun had gone down they were all ready for bed and turned in.

Dave woke in the middle of the night. He was sure he had heard something. He got up and looked over the helicopter but everything looked normal. He then heard a movement out beyond the light of the fire. He looked but could not see anything. Then a slightly darker area moved. Dave walked right up towards it, when he was there he found he was standing over a crouching aboriginal. Dave extended his hand to help the man up only to notice that spear points now surrounded him.

Dave continued to help the crouching figure up. The man was short and looked a little frightened. Dave thought, 'that's funny I have all the spears pointed at me.' Then he said,

"Does anyone speak English?" He waited a second then a voice behind him said,

"Yes, what are you doing here?" Dave slowly turned to face the one he was talking to.

"We have been sent to return the Silver Ship up in those rocks back to the creatures that made it."

There was silence among the aboriginal and a few of the spears even lowered. Then the one he had been talking to said,

"How do we know you are telling the truth?"

"Well you can come with us and see or if you do not want to go near the rocks you can wait until we come back and then go look. Is that good enough for you?" The aboriginal who spoke English translated to the others what Dave had said. Dave thought it was a very musical language it seemed to soothe the ear like being out on a windy day and having all of your troubles blown away by the wind. The aboriginals talked amongst themselves for a couple of minutes. Then the one that spoke English turned to Dave and said,

"This is acceptable but you must stay here while the other two go to send the silver egg back to the stars."

"OK, that is fine by me. They will leave in the morning." Dave then headed back to the camp. He fell asleep quickly considering the camp was surrounded. It seemed to give him a feeling of security, knowing they were watching him.

The next morning they all woke up at sunrise. Dave explained to Darren and Suzanne what had happened. About the visitors from the night before and why he had to stay at the camp. They understood and said,

"We will be back soon." When they had gone Dave signaled for the aboriginal to come out. Only the one he had spoken to the night before came out. When they were sitting around the fire and Dave had a coffee he said,

"Would you like a coffee, it is not the best in the world but it will keep you going."

"Yes thank you it has been a long time since I have had a coffee."

" It is not very good but it is the best I can do out here in your bush." Dave they poured him one. He looked at the man and said, "why are these rocks special to you?"

"The star you are sending back, that is why it is special."

"Then why are you letting us send it back?"

"It came from the stars it belongs to the stars."

The two of them sat there talking well into the evening, when Darren and Suzanne came walking back into camp. They said,

"The ship will be gone by the morning. It needs time to reactivate." The aboriginal signaled for the others to come in.

They did and brought with them a dead lizard and some wild roots of some sort. They started to cook it up and Suzanne started to learn their language from the one cooking. Soon they were talking and laughing. Darren on the other hand sat with Dave and talked to the one that spoke English. They talked well into the night and just before dawn the scout ship rose up. It floated over the camp and all of a sudden everyone except Suzanne and Darren were grabbing their heads. It lasted only a second and the pain was gone. The ship then rose up and was gone. Suzanne explained to the confused aboriginal what had happened. She said,

"It is a gift of knowledge from the ship for protecting it. They seemed happy with that.

When the aboriginal natives had left Dave said,

"What the hell was that?"

"Remember what Denise had said about the brain and the IQ that had happened to us. Well you are now a member of that group." Dave was quiet for a few moments. He then looked at them and said,

"You mean I am now one of the smartest people on the planet?" Suzanne nodded her head yes.
