Traces of Absence

Heero looked at the clock. The numbers radiated an eerie red glow signifying 3:30 AM.
Where the hell is she?' he thought, while pacing around her balcony. Mentally hitting himself, Heero wondered why he didn't realize this sooner. Relena had been coming home late almost every night for what seemed like 2 weeks. Something was up, and she kept saying that work kept her. How much work could one person have that it would require them to stay way past midnight to complete? And also, for more than a week? Regardless if she was the vice-foreign minister, Relena was up to something.
She hastily buttoned up her blouse while he watched her long fingers quickly work the tiny buttons into their holes. He smirked as she searched for her panties, stockings and skirt. Breathing a sigh of relief, she found them all in a pile under her desk.
He watched as his precious princess dressed. Stretching lazily, he got up to look for his clothes as well. Walking around her office, he saw the many framed pictures that decorated her otherwise drab office. Picking up his boxers, pants and shirt, he quickly threw them on as she finished up.
Heero gave up. Throwing his hands up in defeat, he went back into her room, pulled up a chair and soon fell asleep in a dark corner. He was tired of this waiting game. He'd ask her tomorrow, and he'd make sure she was telling him. An hour into his slumber, he sensed light footsteps walk cautiously through the halls of the mansion. Nearing her room, his eyes shot open as he quickly pulled the chair and himself further into the dark.
Relena eyed the halls as she swiftly made it to her room without anyone noticing. Exhaling, she shut the door behind her and quickly began to undress while she walked to her washroom. Looking around her room, she noticed Heero wasn't there. Smiling to herself, she assumed she had tricked the Perfect Soldier. He must have gotten to tired of waiting that he left. Removing her bra and panties, she ran the shower and slowly made her way in, making sure the water was just hot enough to scald the dirty feeling she had.
So this is what you're up to huh? Don't think you're slick. I know all the tricks in the book, you'll never be able to blind me for long, Relena,' Heero mentally warned. He suspected it as soon as she frequented coming home at ungodly hours. He knew she was cheating on him, somewhere in the back of his mind, he knew it. Looking out of the corner of his eye, he saw her quickly undress before heading into the shower.
Relena let the hot water wash away the evidence. She rinsed the shampoo from her head and took a moment to lean against the wall tiles. Wow, what am I going to tell him this time?' she thought. Shaking her head, she decided to stick with her original story, indicating that the other ministers and heads of states were asking her to organize their annual committee meeting. In truth, that wasn't far off from the present, but it wouldn't take as nearly half as long as what she had been doing for the past 2 weeks.
Heero let himself slip into slumber while listening to the repetitive beating of little water droplets hit the bathtub floor. Inside, his heart was hardening. How could someone, who appeared to be so sincere and innocent, do something so deceitful? He remembered her words, all of them sounding false. She told him that she loved him, and that she'd always be his and nobody else's. What a joke their relationship must have seemed like. Years she had chased him, yearning to belong to him, hoping he would recognize her. It finally happened. Heero, in a moment of human weakness, allowed himself to be won over by her. Over a span of months, she helped him open up, become more social. Now regretting ever letting her get to him, a lone tear let slip out of his eye. Foolishness got the best of everyone, at least once.
Relena stepped out of the shower, quickly toweling herself off before retreating to her room. Opening a drawer, she pulled out her silk nightgown. Changing into it, she towel dried her hair and soon slipped into bed. This whole sneaking around business was sure tiring. She only hoped that Heero wouldn't find out. Crossing her fingers, she made a silent prayer before falling into a deep sleep.
Heero watched as she changed, seeing the tiny traces of fear in her eyes, reflected by the bright moonlight. His heart lurched when he saw her smile. Was putting him through misery fun for her? Hoping to hear all her answers, he let himself slip back into an uneasy slumber for the third time. Relena would win this battle, but she would most certainly lose the war she was beginning to brew.
Making his way home, he grinned in the rear view mirror while taking a quick glance at the dashboard clock. It glowed 5AM. Knowing that screwing Princess was hell to pay in the morning, he reminded himself that she was worth it. Turning the bend, he parked his car in his driveway and doggedly pulled himself up the front stairs towards his bedroom. His shower could wait until the morning. Assuring himself that his late night escapades were well worth it. Whoever knew Princess was such a good screw? Shutting his eyes tighter, he turned so his back was facing the offensive moonlight. Breathing heavily, Duo flipped his braid over his shoulder, before going back to remembering tonight's sexcapades with Princess.
AN: OMG! How was it?? Too predictable, or was it more offensive than easy to decode?? Please review. I hope this will bring in a ton of reviews for me. Come on people, my maximum has been 11. Can we all try a little harder to beat that measly number?? PLEASE?!?!? Thanks for reading, and I'll try to make this as smutty as possible, but without the tacky, poorly written lemons that make people come in ten seconds flat. This will be my masterpiece, at least until the next fic! Review, please. Thanks for reading.
