A medical student living at Side 7, Sayla first serves as the White Base's communications officer, then becomes a pilot (in the TV series, she flies the G-Fighter; in the movies, the Core Booster). In the Gundam novelization, she carries on a torrid affair with ace pilot Amuro Ray, but there's no indication of this in the animation; as the orphan daughter of the martyred Zeon Deikun, and the estranged sister of enemy ace Char Aznable, Sayla apparently has enough to worry about already. Despite Char's constant urging to leave the Federal Forces and stay out of his way, Sayla serves out the duration of the war aboard the White Base.

Zeta Gundam
After the end of the One Year War, Sayla quits the Federal Forces to resume her medical career. During the pitched struggle between the Titans and AEUG, she can be seen hanging out in the south of France catching some Mediterranean sunshine.

Gundam ZZ
Sayla plays a slightly more active role during Gundam ZZ, rescuing the kid sister of hero Judau Ashta from an apparent fiery demise and nursing her back to health. She appears at the end of the series to reunite the siblings.
