A civilian living at Side 7, Mirai's space glider training makes her the best candidate to man the White Base's helm. Her level-headedness and subtle newtype capabilities make her an excellent ship's pilot, as well as Bright's trusted advisor and confidante. But Mirai's personal life is rather complicated; the daughter of a high-ranking Federation official who resigned in protest against the government's policies, she's initally engaged to pacifist Cameron Bloom, flirts briefly with pilot Sleggar Law, and ultimately settles down with Bright.

Zeta Gundam
After the end of the One Year War, Mirai retires from the military and marries White Base captain Bright Noah. While Bright joins the ranks of the AEUG resistance movement, Mirai stays home in New Hong Kong raising their two children, Hathaway and Cheimin. As the struggle against the Titans intensifies, Mirai tries to get her family off-planet, but the best she can do is flee to safer territory elsewhere on Earth.

Char's Counterattack
When Char Aznable launches his insurrection against the Earth Federation in UC 0093, Mirai is still on Earth playing house while Bright cruises through space looking for trouble. With an asteroid-impact apocalypse looking likely, Mirai once again tries to get off Earth, but is only able to secure a shuttle ticket for her son Hathway. During the final battle, Mirai and Cheimin can be seen driving aimlessly to and fro, trying to stay out of harm's way.
