| After the completion of the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, Anaheim and the AEUG continue their Zeta Project research, ultimately producing the "Double Zeta" Gundam. Like the original RX-78 Gundam, the ZZ is equipped with a core block system, and its Neo Core Fighter can be used as a cockpit for the mobile suit's other two components, the Core Top and Core Base. The ZZ can also transform without separating to form the aptly named G-Fortress. These separations and transformations aside, the ZZ's real specialty is raw firepower. It's armed with a powerful mega beam rifle, immense hyper beam sabers, racks of missiles, and a super-compact hyper mega cannon housed in the mobile suit's head. Though its multiple reactors give it more than three times the power output of the Zeta Gundam, the ZZ's heavy weapons quickly drain its energy reserves, making it ill-suited for extended battles. Completed around the end of the Gryps conflict, the ZZ is transferred to the dock ship La Vie En Rose for collection by the AEUG flagship Argama. The ZZ finally enters combat on March 16, UC 0088. Piloted by new AEUG recruit Judau Ashta, it serves as the mainstay of the Argama's "Gundam Team" throughout the first Neo Zeon conflict. Heavily damaged at the end of this war on January 17, UC 0089, the ZZ is said to have been rebuilt and stowed aboard the Jupiter energy fleet ship Jupitoris II. |
