Dear Dr. Bellamy:

In response to your request for ideas for an in-service theme for the 2001-2002 school year, we are pleased to present a “Technology Literacy Training Proposal.” This proposal provides an opportunity to establish technology literacy training for all district personnel.

Technology literacy means computer skills and the ability to use computers and other technology to improve learning, productivity, and performance.  A large percentage of our teachers are not using technology or not using it fully.  Students, teachers, and administrators would all benefit from the technology literacy training we propose.

We predict that the benefits of offering this training could include increased retention of staff, better-qualified staff, increased efficiency, positive reputation, and benefits to students.  We believe that this training, offered as professional development, is an excellent use of state grant monies already received from the Technology Literacy Challenge Fund.

We are enthusiastic about the benefits and opportunities this training presents and request permission to proceed as soon as possible.  If you have any questions, call either of us at 515-0500.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Romans                           Jeni Patton
