How to Copy and Paste Information
from One Application to Another
You
should already know how to:
- Use the mouse to select
and highlight
- Identify and use icons,
windows and menus
- Maximize, minimize and
arrange windows
- Start an application
and create a document
Use these steps:
- Make sure both
applications are open.
- If the information you
want to copy is in a different window, switch to that window using the
buttons on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen.
- Select the item or
highlight the information you want to copy.
- Do one of the
following:
- On the Edit
menu at the top of the window, click Copy. If the Copy option doesn’t
appear, click on the double down arrow
at the bottom of the Edit menu.
If the Copy option is unavailable, make sure you have something
selected or highlighted.
- Hold down the Ctrl
key and press the C key.
- Switch to the window
where you want to paste the information and click where you want the
information to go.
- Do one of the
following:
- On the Edit
menu at the top of the window, click Paste. If the Paste option doesn’t
appear, click on the double down arrow
at the bottom of the Edit menu.
If the Paste option is unavailable, make sure you have previously
copied something.
- Hold down the Ctrl
key and press the V key.
- If you don’t get the
results you wanted or expected, do one of the following:
- On the Edit
menu at the top of the window, click Undo.
- Click the Undo
button
on the standard toolbar below the menu
bar.
Then begin again at step 2
to copy or step 5 to paste.
