Not Perfect  part one teaser

The familiar rush hit him at the end of the battle, and he held himself very still; his muscles trembled with shock and strain, and it was all he could do not to laugh. His controlled features allowed a smirk; cobalt blue eyes glared at the interior of the cockpit, waiting. He couldn't leave his gundam until the others had, until he had himself under control.
They wondered why he never got close, why he never opened up; he could see the wondering in their eyes, keeping him away, keeping him cautious. There were things about him they could not be allowed to know.
Once he was alone, he jumped to the ground, hands clenched until the nails bit into his palms, half-moon cuts trickling blood down his fingers. He spread the sticky blood onto his tanktop, crimson streaks that quickly dried to brown. Only when his hands were clean did he open the door to their latest safehouse, stalking through the living room and past the kitchen to his room. He was forced to share it with Duo, and the chattering pilot had already marked his side of the room: clothes, mangas, candy wrappers, scattered all over his bed and floor, stopping in a precise line in the middle of the room. Heero wanted to chuckle, but the others might hear; the perfect soldier never chuckled, not even after wiping out an entire unit of Aries. The last time he'd laughed . . . well, Duo had freaked out, but quickly forgot the incident after Heero'd disarmed that nuclear detonator. The American was either forgiving or fogetful. Though he often played the fool, Heero was willing to bet on the former.
The perfect soldier would have known how to deal with the distration named Duo Maxwell. The perfect soldier wouldn't have to fight laughter. The perfect soldier would've never made the mistakes he'd made. The real Heero Yuy would have defeated Zechs. But then, he'd killed the real Heero, the real perfect soldier. It was only just that he take his place. . . . .
