*********************************** Fear (part two) by Gwendolyn song by Sarah McLachlan
His dreams were filled with tortures most men couldn't imagine, tortures that had made him strong, impervious. Or so he'd thought.
[from above they say temptation will destroy our love]
This talkative idiot got to him the way no one else could; true, Duo had never forced him to open hi parachute while on a suicidal dive, but then Relena had never caused this stirring in him, this strange feeling of . . . completion whenever he was near. Duo rubbed againt him, almost purring, basking in his warmth; Heero wanted to reach out, so badly he could almost tast Duo's mouth against his own--
[the neverending hunger]
Duo felt Heero stiffen, those long, calloused fingers stilling in the middle of a line of code, muscles bunching tense in once-relaxed shoulders. Duo sighed imperceptibly, letting ou his frustration, and moved back. Heero began typing again, his body filled with a new urgency. Duo chuckled softly; he bet he could guess what kind. He sighed audibly, chirped a "G-night, Hee-chan" and eased himself into bed. Heero never stopped typing, but his eyes watched Duo in the reflection on the laptop screen.
[but I fear I have nothing to give]
Duo shook with sobs, but didn't waken; Heero climbed out of bed and went reluctantly to sit at his side. His own dreams had been interrupted, and he didn't want Duo to see the bulge in hastily-donned spandex shorts. Duo's slight frame shook again, and Heero's hand crept out, hesitantly offering the only comfort he could give. He stroked a line down Duo's back, feeling the play of silk-sheathed muscles even through the sheets; Duo turned towards him in his sleep, like a large, hedonistic cat. His braid was coming unravled, sleep-kinked strands drifting to frame his heart-shaped face.
[I have so much to lose here in this lonely place]
Heero drew back, but couldn't leave, couldn't abandon the boy he called friend, if only in his mind. And his mind was so confused; he knew exactly what Dr. J would order, if he ever found out that Duo was such a danger to the perfect soldier's operational abilities. Heero twisted the official-sounding phrases in his head with a bitter mockery, hating himself enough at that moment to make up for all his lack of emotion at other times. His fist clenched with enough force to bend steel, around the end of Duo's braid.
[tangled up in our embrace]
The feel of crumpled silk in his hand brought him to his senses; he gazed down at Duo, mind firming with a resolve he hoped he'd be brave enough to keep. Hand's uncharacteristically gentle, he reached out to shake Duo awake.
[There's nothing I'd like better than to fall] [but I fear, I have noting to give] [We have so much to lose] [I have nothing to give]
