One special night, I tucked my little friend, Nick, into bed. I drew the covers to his chin and kissed his forehead. "Sweet Dreams Nick I whispered as I dimmed his reading lamp. "But what am I to dream about?" he sleepily questioned. "I thought for a moment, then gentle responded. "Dream pretty pictures Nick. Dream of bunnies, candy, bubbles and me." "Okay" he agreed softly, as he drifted to sleep. "Caleb! I know that is you running away!" and old voice called out. Hurriedly, Caleb hopped away. Caleb was quite the mischievous bunny. Currently he was rushing away from his grandfather's burrow. Caleb was trying to snatch back a cube of sugar his grandfather had taken from hi earlier. "Vegetables are for bunnies, candy is for cretins!" grandfather always stated wisely. Caleb never believed it for a second though. He had heard of creatures having a "sweet tooth Well if that was true, Caleb had a whole mouth full! Frustrated that he could not enjoy his sugar cube, Caleb hopped along into the forest for some time alone. After journeying for a bit, Caleb became tired. Blaming his fatigue on low blood sugar levels, Caleb decided to rest aside a gigantic tree. As he slept, Caleb dreamt of a wondrous place made entirely of candy. Aptly enough, the place was called "candy-land" Feeling a tug on his floppy ear, Caleb woke with a start. "Whu? Huh?" He questioned, looking about. "Bonjour. Je suis dsol pour vous rveiller. Comment allez-vous? (Good day, I am sorry for waking you. How are you?) A cute little girl bunny giggled. "Huh? Whatever. I must find candyland!" Caleb reported as he bounced away. The cute girl bunny followed. "S'il vous plat, mon nom est Alice". (Please, my name is Alice.) She said "Attente vers le haut! Laissez-moi venir aussi! Je veux aller rebondir-rebondis avec vous!" (Wait up! Let me come too! I want to go bounce-bounce with you) Caleb continued, but slowly so that Alice could catch up. He had to admit she was a Kawaii hottie. Although her ignorance of the English language annoyed him, Caleb began enjoying the thought of a cute bunny like Alice not understanding a word he said. (It must be a bunny thing)

"Merci mon ami!" (Thank you my friend!) Alice gasped when she finally caught up with Caleb. "J'avais recherch pendant longtemps un ami. J'ai t si seul. Je suis heureux nous voyagerai ensemble. L o sommes nous allant" (I have been searching for a friend for a long time. I have been so lonely. I am glad we will travel together. Where are we going?) Caleb just stared at his adorable companion, confused by her gibberish. For hours as they traveled, Caleb tried to explain candy to Alice. Her dazed expression gave Caleb mixed messages. He was not sure, if Alice was having trouble understanding him, or if she was just stunned by his good looks. Grll! Finally, the two bunnies approached a split in the road. Impulsively, Caleb led his friend to the left. The bunny buddies hopped along keeping their beady eyes on the path ahead. Sensing a disturbance, Alice stopped, finding that Caleb was no longer beside her. Looking around, she saw a bush rustle. Hoping it was Caleb, Alice followed through the bush. Wriggling through the shrub, Alice bumped into Caleb's hindquarter. Caleb sat, starring, mouth agape at the large house in front of him. The house was not made of brick, dirt, wood or convenient aluminum siding from sears. The house instead was created from what appeared to be pink candy. Caleb could not resist! Hopping forward, he sank his bucked teeth into the corner of the foundation of the house. Chomping loudly he declared "I've found candy land! Yippee!" Worriedly, Alice tried to pull Caleb away. "Obtenez idiot parti! Ne mangez pas cela!" (Get away silly! Do not eat that!) Her cries were futile, however, Caleb could not understand. "Nibble, nibble like a mouse, who is nibbling at my house? An old haggard woman questioned from the doorway. Still chewing on the foundation, Caleb replied, "we're bunnies, you see, not mice you silly woman!" "Aye. You speak the truth I see. Well, Mice, Bunny or child, I do not mind. I have been eating vegetables for months; meat would be a nice addition to my diet. Please," She said with a toothless grin, "come in. I will show you my new oven." "Ah choo!" (Ah-choo!) Alice exclaimed. "ah-ah-ah-choo!" (Ah-Ah-AH-Choo!) "oh, you're sickly are you? Well, off with you then. I have no need for diseased meat! I don't want to go catching mad-bunny disease just because I have a lust for meat!" "Ah-choo!" (Ah-CHOO!) continued Alice. "I said scram before I change my mind! The beastly woman screamed. That warning was enough for Caleb. He nudged Alice back through the hedge and onto the path. " Je suis dsol pour ternuer mais la sucrerie n'a t faite partir de la rhubarbe, pas sucre. Je suis tellement trs allergique la rhubarbe. De l o je suis, nos maisons sont faites du plus fin seulement du sucre!" (I am sorry for sneezing but the candy was made from rhubarb, not sugar. I am so very allergic to rhubarb. Where I am from, our houses are made of only the finest of sugar!) Caleb just shrugged. " en fait, nous sommes sur la route menant ma terre. Je montrerai vous ma maison dlicieuse, et ma chambre coucher dlicieuse si vous vous comportez! " (In fact, we are on the road leading to my land. I will show you my yummy home, and my yummy bedroom if you behave yourself!) Again, Caleb shrugged. Alice led Caleb to a cliff. His eyes moistened with tears of happiness as he saw the land from his dream, Candy-land! His heart sank, however, when Caleb saw no way across the gorge. The gorge, which separated him from his, wish. Alice leaned toward Caleb, her whiskers tickled his cheek. Her little bunny kiss made him feel like he was floating. Half way across the gorge, when he finally opened his eyes again, he realized that he was floating! Caleb was encased in a beautiful bubble, as was Alice. Alice was obviously mystical. When they landed safely on the other side of the cliff, Alice led Caleb into town. She explained that guests to candy-land must meet the princess. This time, Caleb understood. That kiss certainly did something miraculous, because when he replied, Alice understood his also. As they hopped along, Caleb asked why he had to meet the princess, not the king or queen. Alice was shocked at the question. "There is no king or queen
" Then why isn't the princess the queen?" Queens are old, fat. The princess Gwen is young, beautiful, you will see. As they entered the throne room of the palace, instantly, Caleb bowed his head out of respect. He heard laughter as sweet as pure sugar itself. "There is no need for that friend" Caleb raised his head, expecting to view a princess in lavish dress. Instead, his gaze fell upon an unconventually beautiful girl in simple dress. Her skirt was made of the night sky, and an angel adorned her necklace. The only other jewelry she wore was a beaded bracelet proclaiming modestly "princess" and an elastic on her left ring finger. The princess smiled at Caleb as he stared at her golden hair and full kissed-a-berry lips, shinning with gloss. "Please princess..." Caleb began "yes luv, you may stay in candy-land" "Yippee!" exclaimed Caleb. "yippee!" Exclaimed Alice. "so my offer still stands" Alice stated slyly. "would you like to see my home and my yummy room?" "Huh!?" Caleb choked out as Alice giggled, realizing that he did not understand her the first time she had mentioned the idea. Alice turned and hopped away. Smiling at the princess, as she waved, Caleb then turned and followed Alice.
