A small knock on the door brought Heero out of his thought. It was already evening but he had spent the entire afternoon thinking about Duo. In the small of his mind he respected the farmer for his courage. No one had ever spoken up against him. In fact the prince was reluctant to admit that part of what he said had been true.

He got up when the knock became more persistent. Upon opening the door he was successfully clumped by *it*. Annoyed he looked at the small frame clenching to him like a bloodsucker. Staring up at him were two baby blue orbs belonging to the woman who calls herself Relena Peaceckraft, future queen of Wing Land.

"Oh Heero!! I have wonderful news!!" She purred as she lovingly fluttered her eyelashes. Heero had to restrain himself from choking at the thought of what this *wonderful news* could be.

When the girl saw that the man made no effort to ask what this news was she relented. "Well, you know that guy that was supposed to show you around? Well he quit. Something about not wanting to force the prince into a situation with someone he did not want to be with. But anyway, because of the short notice, the King was reluctant to agree. Isn't that great! Now we can spend all this wonderful time together before we get married."

In a swift effort Heero detached himself from the girl and walked passed her out of the room. As he walked towards his fathers chamber, the young prince couldn't think of anything but the fact that Duo had resigned.

::He quit?!? But why? He didn't even try to work out the situation that coward. Running away from it is easier than trying to deal with me....::

He stopped in his track as he thought it over again. ::That's right. He left because of the problem. He couldn't deal with the problem. The problem was me. I was the one responsible for treating him like trash. I was the one who hated being in his presence. I was rude to him when he tried to be my friend.::

Heero came to the painful realization that Duo *had* been the only person who's ever tried to see him as a friend. A friend and nothing more. He had treated the young prince like a normal person. His words had always been towards the man called Heero Yuy, not to the future King of Wing Land. He had been the one to run away from the situation. He took the easy way out by blaming everything on Duo. He had to get the young farmer back. Even if it meant that he'd have to suppress the anger and frustration the whole situation arose in him.

As he neared his father's bedroom, the two guards to either side of the large double door stepped aside allowing him entrance. He entered the room hastily and walked directly to where his father laid reading on the bed.

"Father I must speak with you!"

The old King looked up and folded his book shut. "Speak!"

With this, the prince stepped forward and held his pose. "Why did you send the farmer away?"

The King actually looked surprised that his son had even bothered to notice the absence of the braided man. "I did not send him away. He aborted his mission."

At this Heero narrowed his eyes, "Doushite?"

The old man put the book away and looked at his son. "Do you know why I saw him fit for the job, Heero? Because he had truth and honest compassion to his eyes. That man held the eyes of truth and love. From the very moment he saw you, he felt compassionate towards you. Some would call it pity, but it's not. In you he saw a lonely man that might need a friend. He was more than willing to be your friend. But when he came to me this afternoon he told me that he was quitting on behalf of you. By the way you treated him and the anger in your eyes when you looked at him, he could tell that he was causing you discomfort. He made you angry. He knew that he wasn't fitted for the job since most of it required complete trust on both parts. He clearly confirmed that he trusted you, but since it was impossible for you to rely on anyone lower than yourself, not he nor anyone was deserving of this job."

Heero glared at his father, "You didn't even stop him?"

At this the old man smiled, "I did. But what can I say. He was an honest man. He did not believe that anyone should get the money since no real lessons would be taught. He believed that the money would instead be paid for the King to have a miserable three moons prior to his wedding. There wasn't much I could say, Heero. I almost have to agree with him, therefore I chose for you to spend time with princess Relena instead."

Heero clenched his fists. "I don't want Relena. She's a woman!! What good will she be able to do me. Bring me Duo! I want to be trained by him!!"

The old man's mouth curved into a smile. "Do you realize that you just asked for help, Heero?"

Heero actually looked a bit confused. The old man looked at his son suspiciously, "You were just taught your first lesson. This Duo will be an excellent teacher."
