GA Indy Top 50

January 2004

PLEASE READ FIRST!!!!

The 2003 Georgia Indy Top 50 was comprised of email votes from contributors to the Georgia Wrestling.TK site, show results, and of the Georgia Wrestling.TK staff. The following criteria was taken into effect in the ranking process. The Names on the vote ballots that were received back were dissected and reviewed and then re-ranked according to the following: Success in Georgia Indy wrestling organizations. Meaning their wins and quality loses. A quality lose would be to a quality opponent, like a champion and top wrestler with in the fed, not a lower card wrestler/ jobber. Consistency. To qualify for the ranking one must have wrestled frequently with in the state for a Georgia Indy fed. Because of this rule a lot of wrestlers were left out of the rankings, like AJ Styles, Jimmy Rave, and others that work nationally and only in the state a hand full of times a year. Inactivity. Wrestlers that were inactive because of injury or "quit" for a majority of the year we excluded from the top 50. Wrestlers that are from other states other than Georgia, but wrestle here often are ranked in the top 50.

1. RAINMAN

Rainman truly had a remarkable year. He did what is almost impossible. He held a prestigious Indy title for an entire year. No, this was not a local title that he is connected to by blood or friendship, but one of the most prestigious titles in Georgia, the NWA Wildside World TV title. In this day and time that is almost impossible. He defended his title against all comers and top talent that was brought in to face him from around the country. He has recently made waves nationally with Ring of Honor, plus with TNA and his ability to turn in outstanding matches makes his future look bright.

2. RAY GORDY

Ray Gordy will always have to live with comparisons to his legendary father, but after seeing Ray wrestle all comparisons are cast away. Ray is one of the most powerful cruiserweights on the wrestling Indy scene today. With time and age it is undeniable that he will move up to be a natural heavyweight. Ray had an impressive year by dominating NAWA and invading Wildside and capturing the Wildside Junior HWT. Title. Ray also has made waves nationally with appearances on TNA.

3. PRESTON PARADISE

With all the talk about the north part of Georgias wrestling, sometimes the south part of the state goes unnoticed. The Man in the south part of the state is the Platinum Playboy Preston Paradise. Preston has held the majority of all major titles of feds he has been involved with. Be it GIWA, GWA, GPW, or others, Preston seems to always be the top heel in the Fed.

4. ICEBERG

Iceberg turned in a very impressive year by holding onto the Wildside HWT. Title for the majority of the year. He also had a brief run with TNA. Iceberg proved the myth that Big men can not carry wrestling anymore wrong. He was the top heel in wildside for the duration of the year then made a successful turn to babyface.

5. ONYX

Why Onyx is not in WWE yet is a mystery. The guy has a million dollar body, and he can wrestle any style. Onyx had several dark matches for the WWE. He most recently captured the Wildside HWT title. By winning the Wildside HWT. Title he has held every title in Wildside, something few have done.

6. CAPRICE COLEMAN

Caprice started the year off red-hot. He was picked as one of the top 30 Indy wrestlers to breakout in 2003. He then had a serious knee injury that kept him out of action. He then rebounded and came right back, becoming the top baby face in Wildside. He also turned a lot of heads in Ring of Honor, TNA, and even has the attention of WWE. Caprice barely made the count down because of his injury. If he would not have been hurt he could have very well ended up as #1.

7. VORDELL WALKER

Vordell is well known throughout the south and central part of the state. He is considered the top baby face in the south part of the state. He is rumored to be getting an upcoming dark match with TNA. The question is, when is Vordell going to take his career to the next level and travel north?

8. PAUL WOOD

The Wood brothers could have been tied, but Paul got a few higher rank votes with his few single performances. As a Tag team Havoc has dominated the tag scene in SGWA and GPW. They have also popped up in GIWA and AWN.

9. TOM WOOD

The pride of the SGWA, the wood brothers are the most successful duo to ever come from Hazlehurst. Tom, along with his brother, has quickly captured the hearts of all fans in South Georgia.

10. AJ STEELE

AJ Steele or Big Beef Jones as he is known as in AWN, is one of the last of the old school type of wrestlers. Trained by the Oates brothers out of Columbus. AJ can mat wrestle with the best of them, but has been known to fly when needed. He had a TNA dark match early in the year and is Currently the GIWA HWT. Champ.
