The Mountain Madness Powersoccer Tournament on July 6 - 8, 2007 was a success.
7 teams participated in a total of 25 games at Bonsor Rec Complex. We had 5 BC teams attend: North Shore Eagles, Okanagan Thunderchairs, Surrey Transformers, Vancouver Lightning (White) and Vancouver Thunder (Blue). There were two special guest teams: Le Blitz/ Equipe Quebec and Puget Sound Rolling Thunder.
On the first day, we had Burnaby's Mayor Derek Corrigan attend the Opening Ceremony before the round robin competition began. The second day was filled with ongoing games, some teams had up to 4 games to play. The third day consisted of a few important games to determine the team's placement in the Playoffs with the top 4 teams.
The results ended with 1st place: Vancouver Thunder (Blue), 2nd place: Vancouver Lightning (White), 3rd place: Okanagan Thunderchairs and 4th place: North Shore Eagles.
Through all this excitement we had a historical event to take place, Canada's first National game. Vancouver's Mayor Sam Sullivan opened the National game between BC and Quebec. 6 players were selected from across BC to represent our provincial team, they were Janelle Armstrong, Steven Cayer, Luke Galvani, Dale McLeod, Steve Strangward and Spencer Williams. The Quebec team have only been playing Powersoccer since April of this year held their ground and worked extremely well as a team in such a short period. In the end, BC won 2 - 0.
