Silly - Butch - Me
You, Me, Silly
Climb wet mountain trail
Scrambling over rock
Slick with moss and dew
Brushing by foliage
Avoiding snakes
Breathing hard with exertion
But lovingly of fresh mountain air
Silly dashing on ahead
Her four paws and coarse yellow hair
Flying happily ahead
Dragging the slow pokes along
Me nursing fractured foot
My chest naked and bare
Limping gingerly but without much care
Face determinedly set – as I plod on
You tan shorts
And hiking boots
Breathe catching
As you pursue
CALDER WOLFE
