| A lot more gas and oil around here than wax. |

| We drive 'em - hard! They are "perfect tens"! (from ten yards away they look perfect!) |

The '86 "is no more". I sold it to State Farm!!! To see what became of it, scroll down to the end of the page. The thing almost burned the house down!!! |
|
|
|
| This is the '70 and the '86. The '86 is a coupe (obviously), automatic, 3.07 rear end, graphite interior, a few bolt-on's. |

| The '70 is also a coupe, with t-tops. This car was born an LS5 454 with an M-22 close ratio 4-speed. It has a 3.55 rear end. The side pipes were not offered in '70. These were added along the way. An Edelbrock intake and Holley 4160 were added, hence the Turbo hood. Nothing like the feel of a BIG BLOCK!!! I've added Hedman headers. In late summer of 2001 we took the '70 to Jeb Burnett in Little Rock, Ark. for a little engine rejuvenation. Jeb put Edelbrock aluminum heads and a Crane hydraulic cam along with some other goodies. I'm guessing about 450 hp. |

This is what replaced the '86. It's a 95 coupe, auto, with the base rear end. 28,000 miles, had never been driven in the rain, etc., etc., etc. Boy, have we changed that!!!!!! |

Everything about the car is near perfect. We'll probably change that, too! GM calls it "dark red metallic". We call it Mississippi State Maroon!!!!!! |

First thing on the agenda is some "rumble" and some "grunt". That base rear end has got to go!! And so do those mufflers!! I never heard road noise in the '86!!!!!!! |

Now I feel guilty about not keeping it clean and waxed!!!!!!!! |

We came home about 10:00 PM and pulled up into the garage. About 5 minutes after we came inside, Marcia said she smelled something that smelled like an electrical short. I got up (surprise) and walked around in the house. I looked toward the back door into the garage, all I could see were orange flames. |

The front of the car was fully engulfed in flames. The garage was full of nasty black smoke. I got to the cab behind a fire extinguisher and pushed it out of the garage. What a mess. Everything under the hood that was aluminum just melted. Must have been some sort of electrical short. |

You can see here how close it came to burning the house down. After we pushed it out of the garage, it stopped against a little pine tree. It was in the garage bay on the left. You can just make out the '70 on the back patio. It was parked on the glass porch where the big doors are open. We had considerable smoke damage in the house. The insurance company did a great job on that. |
