Once there was a cat and its tail. The cat and the tail were very good friends.. everyday of their lives, since they were born, they would spend hours and hours talking to each other, and conversing. They enjoyed eachother's company. One would think that they would never part, as most cats and their tails never do really part. But, there also weren't that many cats who actually talked to their tails, either.. so, no one could really say that it wasn't possible that they would part.
Unfortunately for this particular cat and its tail, there was a small child that lived in their house. This child was evil. She would pull the poor tail until it cried for mercy. Sometimes, even after that, she would continue to pull. The tail suffered many long, hard days of being pulled by the horrid little child. The cat and its tail spent nights, after the little girl had gone to bed, discussing ways to escape the wrath of the pulling. Oh, what a horrible wrath it was.. you could not even BEGIN to understand what agony that poor little tail went through. Let's not forget how much pain the cat suffered as well, seeing that it was attached to the tail...
One day, as the cat and its tail were just sitting there, minding their own business, the little girl ran in with a big grin on her face, and her short blonde curls bouncing. What a disgusting little child, so the cat and the tail thought.
The little girl picked up the cat and hugged it. "Kitty! Pussy pussy pussy, kitty!", she squealed happily. The poor cat tried its hardest to get away, but it didn't run fast enough. Just as it was getting away, the little girl grabbed ahold of the cat's tail and pulled very hard.
"Don't run away, kitty! I just want to play," she cried and pulled harder and harder. The harder she pulled, the faster the cat tried to get away. Finally, with one last hard pull, the tail actually fell off of the cat! The little girl became so shocked that she ran away crying to tell her mom.
The cat ran back to the tail. "Are you okay, tail?" inquired the cat.
"Yes.. I will be fine. Just go, and leave me. I will find my own way." replied the tail.
"But, tail.. I need you!"

"Go! The little girl will be back in a matter of moments!"
The cat dropped his head down very low, and slowly trudged off to a hiding place, without the tail. The tail was wrong assuming that the girl would be back soon, because no one came in that room for a couple of hours. The cat had dozed off, so it couldn't get the tail just then.
Exactly three hours later, the little girl's older sister walked into the room. She looked on the ground and saw the tail and picked it up.
"Ugh, Aubrey.. that idiot. She left another one of her little toys laying around in my room again... well, she knows what I said I'd do to any more toys I find laying in here.."
She picked up the tail and tossed it out the window. The tail screeched as it flew to the ground, and landed with a thud.
"Oww.. where am I...?" the tail looked around. It saw that it was dark, and there was no one around.
"I sure do miss cat," it sighed. It looked around for somewhere to stay for the night.
Across the street, there was a store. The store carried cat liter.
"Cat liter?! OH BOY," the tail said joyfully as it crawled across the street, only to find that the door was locked.
"Oh, bother," it said to itself and tried to go through the glass. It found that going through the glass was a very difficult task to perform. Eventually, it ended up hitting the glass so hard that it broke it. As the glass crashed down, loud burglar alarms went off, and woke up the whole neighborhood.
"What happened?!" whined the tail. It didn't know just what to think. It had never heard this before.
Just before the police came, the tail had dragged itself back into its old yard. "Now how to get in.."
It saw that there was a place in the door where mail would go through. It knew it would fit though that, so it crawled up the the front door. Unfortunately, just that day, the family had gotten a brand new watch dog. The dog saw the tail and chased after it, barking, and snarling, and showing its sharp teeth.
"Please, spare me, dog! For I am merely a tail! A tail of a cat!" The tail cowered.
"I show no mercy, for I am a watch dog. I tell time! I show no mercy for time! The hour is three, the minute is twenty-seven, and the second is thirty. Wait, now thirty-one.. uhm, thirty-two.. thirty-three... thirty-four.. BAH! I CAN'T KEEP UP! I HAVE FAILED!"
"There, there, dear dog. You have not failed. For seconds are very difficult things to keep up with," the tail reassured the dog.
"You.. you.. you mean, I'm not a failure?"
"No, of course not!"
The tail and the dog looked into each other's eyes and smiled.
"Would you like a spot of tea," asked the dog as he fixed tea.
"Why, yes, thank you," said the tail as he took a seat at the table.
"So," said the dog as he served the tea, "If you are a cattail, then why aren't you attached to a cat?"
The tail sipped its tea. "Well, today, my cat and I were just minding our own business, and talking, until the little girl who lives here ran in and pulled me off! I think it was rather rude..."
"Then how did you get outside?"
"Well, the older girl, her sister came in and called me a toy, and threw me out the window."
"How awful! That's a rude thing to do. Can't she see you are a TAIL?"
"Apparently not."
"How stupid.. well, we'll have to get you reattached to your cat, won't we?"
The dog got up from the table and headed to the bathroom. The tail followed.
"You mean that's possible?!"
"Why, of course it is! There HAS to be a way.. you got off somehow... so we'll have to get you back on the same way..."
"... I don't think that pulling me would really do much to get me back on my cat."
The dog and the tail sweatdropped in unison.
"Well, I think that first it would be a good idea to find your cat."
"Did you say cat?" The cat walked in and smiled. The tail's eyes got very large at the sight of cat.
"CAT! Is that you?!"
The dog looked at cat strangely. "You look rather odd without a tail.."
"I feel rather odd without a tail."
The tail sat down and thought. "Why don't we try liquid cement stuff to get me back on cat?"
"Hey, good idea!" Said the dog. The cat jumped up and grabbed the liquid cement and appied it to itself and the tail. "Okay, hop on, tail!"
The tail made itself comfortable in its rightful place where it once sat on cat. The cat and the tail smiled happily. So did the dog.
"Will you marry me, tail?"
"Yes, I will!" The tail and the dog smiled.
"O_O" said the cat.
The dog and the tail got married that night. It was a joyous celebration that involved much tea and many things. The cat joyed happily. From then on, the tail was always protected from the little girl's horrid wrath of pulling, because the dog would protect it from it. The dog and the cat and the tail lived happily ever after.
