One day, a little girl named Sophie went out in the backyard to swing without telling anyone. A few hours later, she was still swinging. "Sophie, where are you?!" called Sophie's caring mother. "I'm out here," Sophie replied, but her small voice was not heard through the thick glass that enclosed the kitchen from which her mother was yelling. "Sophie, come out, this isn't funny!" yelled her dad from a bathroom out the window into the front yard. Sophie did not hear him. Then, ten minutes later, Sophie's mom and dad decided to go search for Sophie outside. But before they had gotten to the backyard, Sophie decided she needed to use the restroom, so she went inside the house and did her business while her mother and father searched the backyard thoroughly. They went back into the house through the front door sadly, just as Sophie went quietly out the back door, quite relieved after her... er, duties. "Oh no," exclaimed her mother and father. "We must call the police from the west to the east! From north to south! From Europe to Hawaii! From Asia to Texas! From the North Pole to the South Pole! From Greenland to Iceland!" exclaimed her father. "Ok!" said her mother, rushing off to the Mall to get the phones. "Ok!" said her father, rushing off to the post office to take the mail trucks and heading off to the mall with them. "Load up this truck with the telephones! We shall rush over to that telephone pole and call the police from west to east, north to south, Europe to Hawaii, Asia to Texas, North Pole to South Pole, and Greenland to Iceland by pluging the phones into it!" "Alright!" said Sophie's mother, deeply shaken. Sophie's mother and father began sticking the telephone wires into the strangest of places on the telephone pole. Even the bird that sat on top! "Quick, we must dial the numbers of the police from west to east, north to south, Europe to Hawaii, Asia to Texas, North Pole to South Pole, and Greenland to Iceland now!" "Ok!" and they started dailing numbers frantically on each of their 8273192873187 phones and speaking into the reciever without noticing if anyone picked up or not. Then, they frantically slammed the phone down and started on the next phone, until they had finished all the phones. "I think we can retire to our home now, and just wait for the phone to ring." said the two tired parents. Little did they know, they had knocked out all the telephone circuitry with their phone plugs into the telephone pole that just happened to be the central one to their city. As they went home, Sophie had become tired of swinging, and she had come into the house and was making herself a cup of tea when her parents suddenly burst into the house. "SOPHIE!" they both cried in joy and confusion. "They found you!" exclaimed her mother. "It worked! Calling from east to west, north to south, Europe to Hawaii, Asia to Texas, North Pole to South Pole, and Greenland to Iceland worked!" exclaimed her father. Now, Sophie had no idea why they were so happy to see her, nor why they were in tears hugging her half to death. What she did know, though, was that she definatly had to go swinging much more often. Much MUCH more often.
