Rest In Gore Interview

Questions by: Gee
Answer by: Masaki

1. Hi Bro? What's up!? Can you give a little history of Rest In Gore?

Hi Gee! What's up? Thanks for the interview. All right, I'm gonna talk about us first. REST IN GORE was formed in end of 2001. EIJI, who's not the member of REST IN GORE anymore, and I started the band. At first we were playing Gore Grind, but soon changed to what we are now. Soon or later guitars and drums were found. We started lives but because of changes of members we weren't able to have lives regularly.

2. I'm just curious? Why do you guys choose Rest In Gore as your bands name? What are the meanings?

It is taken from the phrase "rest in peace". I thought of this name when I was jogging. I quite like it myself.

3. Tell me about your band line-up. Is there any changes?

Vocal and guitar is me, MASAKI, bass is Jason. And MIYATA as a help drummer. It's not sure yet whether he is going be our official member or not. Still the members are unstable.

4. When I've listened to your 3 song demo, it reminds me a bit of TXDM style like Devourment. What can you say about that?

Yeah, it's true that we all like TXDM style. But it's just a part of our style. We are also influenced by Old School Death Metal and Grind Core. Jason likes Technical Death Metal like DEEDS OF FLESH and I also listen to Gore Gind quite often.

5. The sound production of your demo is fuckn' clear, heavy and brutal! And it is totally impressed me! Where did you record those songs? And what are the processes?

The recording is done in an ordinary studio where you can find it anywhere. It only took about a day for the recording. It's true that we wanted to spend more time on it. The clear sound is effort of Okada from Disconformity. It's good enough for the demo, right?

6. How does US label Sevared Records signed Rest In Gore for a Split Cd? What is the other band that can you worked for that split? and when can we expect that release?

After we released a demo in Oct 2004, Sevared Records was the one first came in contact with us. Barrett is cool guy and someone I can trust. That was why we decided to sign with Sevared Records. Also they release one of our favorite bands. The other band for the split is called MAGGOTTHOLAMIA from Finland. You'll be surprise on their sounds for sure. Recording will probably finish in June or July. So it's gonna be on release soon.

7. What bands are you listening at this moment?

Suffocation is still one of my favorite, MORTAL DECAY, DISGORGE(US)(MEX), BRODEQUIN, GUTTURAL SECRETE, DESPONDENCYand more? Anyway, sick and brutal is most important for me.

8. You came from Japan, and there are numerous great bands over there like Vomit Remnants, Infected Malignity, Discomformity, Woundeep etc?. What can you say about the scene over there nowadays?

Brutal scene in Japan is getting hot. There are many brutal bands coming out recently. As you know the bands you mentioned above also play great brutal music.

9. How can you describe your own musick? Your musical and non-musical influences?

We are often described as US style, but I think a bit of Rock taste is also included. I'm influenced by CRYPTOPSY(beginning) and CARCASS(beginning). And I also used to listen to CANNIBAL CORPSE, DEICIDE and MALEVOLENT CREATION. Other than the musical influence, my music is influenced from the war movies(serious one).

10. What can we expect in Rest In Gore in the future? Any upcoming releases? Killer shows? etc...

After finish recording the split we'll start rehearsal for full length cd. We don't have plans for shows yet but maybe we will play once in this year ?

11. Any plans to do a South East Asia Tour soon?

Not yet so far, but it would be exciting for sure. We are also interested in Death Metal scene of South East Asia such as Philippines and Indonesia.
