1. Hello Alfie! How's it goin and whats goin on with Orchidectomy these days, any news on that?
Hey Jamie, everything here is pretty good. Right now we're just writing material for our full length, hopefully we'll be hitting the studio sometime around February.
2. Could you give us a brief history of the band? how it all started etc...
Tom and I had been jamming together for awhile, and we met Justin in the summer of 2004. When we all realized we had the same goals in music Orchidectomy was born.
3. Can you tell us why you chose Orchidectomy as a bands name? Do you think it fits well to your musick style?
Justin actually came up with it long before we met him.. I think it's a pretty cool, unique sounding name.
4. What are your musical and non - musical influences?
Personally, my number 1 influence on my playing is Ricky Myers, along with Jon Engman, Chad Walls and Jarda from Alienation Mental.
5. You guys currently released a demo and it was sick as fuck! Are you happy with the way it turned out?
Yeah man, we've only heard good feedback about the demo.. although if we had more time there is a lot of things I would've liked to change/fix about it.
6. Although I havent read your lyrics, judging from your song titles on your demo, you guys arent going for a typical gore/porn style, who writes the lyrics and whats the inspiration?
I come up with the titles for the most part, Justin writes the lyrics. I
don't think he even uses the lyrics anymore though, haha.
7. Do you think it should be Gore/porn lyrics because it fits the musick better? Why not about religion? Anyway what are your views about religion?
We try to have a good mix of anti-religious and gore themes. I
personally think the silly gore thing is way too overdone and most of the time not done very well. If anti-religious lyrics are done well they are the best.. but it's hard not to sound like an idiot when writing them. Religion is a big pile of bullshit made up by foolish people trying to keep everyone well behaved, and explain our exsistence.
8. You guys will be releasing your debut full lenght on Unmatched
Brutality Records, how did you hook up with this label?
Justin talked to Jamie and Mike at last years Maryland Death Fest and
gave them a demo. A couple of weeks later they sent us an email discussing a contract.
9. Any ideas for the song titles? Possible album title? Will you tell
us about it? Im personally looking forward hearing more sickness from you guys..
We don't have an album title yet, we've got titles for most of the songs, but they are a secret til the album is released, haha.
10. Whats the scene like in your area? I know you've got quite a lot of intense band over there... Can you name some good Canadian bands that deserve more attention than they get?
Definitely Cumgun, Crackwhore, Fecalized Twat, Deamon, and obviously Lapidate.
11. Did you have any other label interest besides Unmatched Brutality?
We recieved offers from quite a few labels, but ever since we started
the band, Unmatched Bruality has been our dream label.
12. With your own words, how would you like to describe Orchidectomy's musick?
We try to play as fast and as heavy as we can while still being
technical and having groove running through all of it.
13. I hear lots of Brodequin, Disgorge(US), and Devourment(breakdowns, etc..) influences in your musick, what are some of your favorite bands? Any bands that you would love to do splits?
You already mentioned 3 of my favourite bands, along with Sublime
Cadaveric Decomposition, Gutrot, Liturgy, Flesh Parade, Neuro Visceral Exhumation, Suffocation.. and so on.
14. Do you guys have any other project besides Orchidectomy?
I've been working on some grind shit with a friend of mine, we're gonna record a demo sometime in the future.
15. What are you guys doing besides playing in the band? i guess you sick fucks abuse weed very much.. hehehe!
hahaha, yeah that's us.. other than that we drink a lot of beer, we all work, Justin goes to college, and I'm still stuck in high school.
16. What can we expect from the band in the near future?
We should be getting shirts made in the near future, keep checking out our website for updates and all kinds of useless shit.
17. That ends the interview, thanks for your time bro.. Anything you would love to add?
Thanks a lot for the interview Jamie, stay sick. Everyone get ready for the new Lapidate cd, it will make you shit your pants!
