1. Hi Fred, How's the INHUMATE's new album "Life"? Are you satisfied with the result? How did you compare the "Life" and "Growth" album?
I think that "Life" is a good album and people may think the same thing as we have more than 1000 copies gone this last year. If I compare it to "Growth" I would say that everything's better, and that's how things should be J.
2. The cover artwork of your new album is quite cool. Can you give some reasons why you choose that kind of artwork?
The artwork is original and far away from the usual death metal and grind core cliche because we're dealing with a very particular concept through our albums. We're trying to put up a wide concept with 7 albums. "Life" is the 4th part of it and the next one will be titled The Fifth Season, Expulsed and Eternal Life. If you know our discography you know that the first album were titled Internal Life, Ex-Pulsion and Growth . So, the whole concept is around Life and Abolition of Time. Those topics are really abstract and that' why we have to find some rare artworks, nothing to see with gore, sex and blood !
3. I've noticed that the sound production of Life album and Growth album is almost the same Is this the trademark of INHUMATE's recording methods? Hehehehe...
Yes, you may be right. You know INHUMATE is a self produced band. We want to stay self produced and underground as fuck. So in this philosophy we don't try to go to the most popular studio, and we do all our recording in a small studio in our city. That's also why our sound is so particular, far away from the usual fashion too.
4. How's the French scene nowadays?
The French scene is really good I think. We have tons of interesting bands in France. Now the big problem for them is that promotion is almost never done out of the French borders and they live and die without being known a half second our of France� But if you have the opportunity to check some French bands, please listen to BLOCKHEADS, HORRID FLESH, GASTRICK BURST, UNFORMED, BLOODY SIGN, VACARME, ABSURDITY, TREPAN DEAD, HERESY, SOLSTIS, DISASTER, KRONOS, BENIGHTED, WARSCARS And many more I forgot now�
5. I've read the band biography, and it said that INHUMATE start since 1990, so 15 years of existence. How does it feel that INHUMATE still exist today?
It�s always a bit strange to be such a long living band because I saw many bands starting in the smae time as us and dying before.. I also saw some bands starting in the underground and becoming well known bands, But the most important thing to my eyes concenring the 15 years of INHUMATE existence is to show to the worldwide underground that it's possible to put up a band that has a small but interesting carreer without signing to a label ! Self production as also a possible way !
6 .What is your main goal as a band? And aside in INHUMATE, what are you guys doing?
Our only goal is to have fun, especially on stage !!! We all feel the soul grinding trance and that's our only goal in playing or listening music. Aside INHUMATE Christophe is an eternal student J, Yannick is unemployed for the momene,t David is electrician and I'm teacher.
7. How were the past shows of INHUMATE?
Like for all bands, cool and bad shows. We prefer to forget the bad ones and remember the best ones. In those the Obscene Extreme Festival (Czech Republic) 2003 was one of the absolutely best !!! Incredible ambiance, incredible audicne, sickness was the fucking law there !!!!
8. Speaking of shows, what is the best show of INHUMATE so far? And what are the bands you playing with?
Oh, sorry I already answered to this just before So we played with bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, 6 FEET UNDER, NILE, CRYPTOPSY, but also hundres of underground bands. Some of them are really good like STUMPFUCKING, GERBOPHILIA, SOLSTIS, DISGORGE (Mex), SOLSTIS, PIGSTY, MASSIVE CHARGE, INGROWING, etc...
9. You already released a 4 albums and all of that is self released/produced. Did you try to contact any labels to release your material? Or you want to released your albums by your owns? I'm just curious...
We didn't contact any label and few years ago we were contacted by some labels, but we always refused as we want to stay underground and self produced. I know this can seem stange to some people but this is our ethic, INHUMATE is here to show that underground can mean real carreer professionnal stuff and total freedom on everything concenring the band. Of course when we choose this way we knew that we were going to have a smaller carreer than a signed band, I mean that we can't make international edvertisement, we don't have bir promotionnal campaign and we're still rather unknown on the wrold wide metal stage, but we don't fucking care, we are what we are and we are fucking proud of that !!!
10. You also run a Skull Fucked Prods, what is your motivation to build a label?
The motivation is that I began as music fan (20 years ago), then I played in a band (still now J), and after that I felt the will to produce some bands, that�s why I put up this very small label with a friend of mine.
11. What bands are you listening at this moment?
Mostly underground bands. The last ones I like were MUMAKIL (Switzerland), DISASTER (France). Those days I was listening to Infern from MOTORHEAD (eternal rocknroll godz), yesterday I listened to COERCION (a Swedish old school death metal sounding band)
13. Any plans to do a South East Asia tour? Hehehe...
No we unfortunately don't have some ; but believe me that if some people are able to help us to pay the travel tickets I'll fucking like to come to shred some Asian stages for sure !!!! (Like INGROWING did !!!)
14. What can we expect in INHUMATE next album?
There have been 4 fucking long years between Growth and Life I don't think that i twill be faster between Life and The Fifth Season Sorry
