Train Tracks Commentary
"Train Tracks" was written on the same night as "Miracle Pending". I was deeply questioning the existence of a higher being, such as the one who many call "God". Originally it was written because I was stoned out of my mind and playing my electric guitar. The light that reflected off of my lamp and onto my lime green guitar pick, then onto the fretboard of my guitar, combined with the strings, gave it a strong optical illusion that made it appear as though the guitar's fretboard was a green railroad. This inspired me to write this poem, as shabby as it is. You may notice that some letters are bold. You see, most of the time when I am stoned and am writing, I don't press hard enough on my pen. So a few of the letters didn't show up as clearly as I would like them to be so I refined the letters in a darker shade.
Just as I was starting to question God's existence, I was asking for a sign. Anything to confirm its existence. It just so happened that at that very moment I heard a car horn from the parking lot outside. I looked down on my poem and noticed that the bolded letters spelled something. Start from the top of the bolded letters and read them clockwise. They spell out "G.T.A. Note". G.T.A. stands for Greater Toronto Area. The note I heard was the car horn, music of the city. To this day I still question whether what I experienced what a strange coincidence or God speaking to me as only he can. What boggles my mind is how simple the letters presented themselves and it wasn't in any kind of special code.
