The History of Music
We listened to nature
We imitated it
We sang together
The talented rose up
We listened to them
Then in larger numbers
We used technology to record them
Live on stage
Then came the studio
Records sold in thousands
The producers ruined it all
Sold in millions
Used to listen at home
Then came the cassette
And bootlegging
Music was no longer a ritual
To the common folk
The compact disc restored albums
The way they were
Just smaller
Big mistake
Recording and copying
Was now easier than ever
Later the .MP3 took hold
And now there is no stopping it
There are too many “artists”
In it for the money
For their hit for fame
Where's the "we"?
We destroyed music
And many are convinced it's easy
Music is in a recession
