Asylum

Here is a tale of insane qualities, a short work of fiction that I hope will enlighten those with a sane mind. Of course I am sane, but this piece of work gave me ideas that I never thought would pass as any type of real writing. The story begins with personal accounts of individual "inmates" or "mates" as they call each other. It is important to keep in mind that these introductory accounts are in the first person and they are not written or said aloud. They are merely the many thoughts that float about in their minds. They are not actually speaking. I figured that a story in the third person would greatly diminish the effect of the mates' insane thoughts. The third person would only allow the reader to speculate what a mate's problem would be or why he acts the way he does. These individuals accounts allow the reader to look deeper into the troubled men's minds and see for themselves why they are being mentally tormented by themselves.

After the initial accounts of the mates, there will then be a story in the third person, but their thoughts will not be excluded. There will be of course tiny pauses to get an idea of what each character is thinking, and that is the key in this story. Every character's thoughts are vital to the progression of the tale. You will soon see why the introductory first person chapters are important because without them the characters are bland and interest is soon lost. Without further ado I present the mind-warping tale of Asylum.
