Gus Boyle's 2009 Review

The 20th Annual Aubrey Wiseman Golf Classic presents the Gus Boyle Preview/Review

TEAM#1. Larry Dunn ,Greg McCarron, Mylo Paruch, Wally Hines.

Four Wiseman veterans, three past champs lead by Larry "I play Texas hold'em gabba obade gooboo" Dunn[thats right he can now speak in tongue]Second is Greg "the caretaker" McCarron, who'll pick up his teamates, dust them off[literally]and keep their eyes on the prize.Third is Mylo "whats that" Paruch, back for a fourth try at the cup. He'll turn a deaf ear to the nay sayers and come out of his flipflops.Last is the only right hander in the group Wally "tee it up Buck" Hines,a former team Dino winner out to prove that handicapped people can compete.

Team#2. Steven Hines, Craig Buckland, Dave Riggs, Terry Morris.

Now here's a nice team of old friends.Steve "I had an epiphanie" Hines,Craig "sorry Wall" Buckland,Dave "snoozie" Riggs and Terry "don't call me horse" Morris. These guys will go hard on day one but night one will take its toll and only the makers Tylenol will profit in the end.

Team #3. Jim Dunn, Mike Chaisson, Paul Gouthro, Brendan MacNeil.

Strong contenders littered with past champs, this team has the ability to go all the way.Desire is another question though.Three of four live off the island ,the fourth away much of the year and the temptations of the Wiseman may prove to be to much to cope with.Their "smok'em if you got'em" attitude along with the fact that they are part of the entertainment[Jim plays guitar,Mike is a talk show host] may prevent them from reaching their full potential .

Team #4. Greg MacLeod, Donald MacDonald, Almon MacDonald, Mike Murphy.

One of the favorites, lead by Greg “Freddie “ MacLeod, seconded by Donald “Sketti” MacDonald, third Mike “Take Stock” Murphy and well rounded out with Almon “Nuts” MacDonald. With too many pluses in their bags to mention, the rest of the field must try to pressure them into self destructing. Shawn MacDonald should know which buttons to push to get in-fighting amongst his two younger siblings, and since they are from Whitney Avenue he should have no problem creating a free for all.

Team #5.  Jerry Pat Keough, Blaise MacLean, Paul Martin, John Hugh Muise.

Four very old friends, and I mean old, make up this squad. Big John “Don’t call me Turk” Muise is the baby of the bunch in his 52 year. Blaise “The traveler” MacLean is pushing 53, Jerry Pat Keough and Paul “Pit” Martin are old enough to be continued. I mean they’re so old they helped build Constantine School. They remember when the dead sea was only sick, happy hour is a nap, when they light the candles on their birthday cake Buckland thinks it’s a camp fire and gets his guitar out. I mean these guys look both ways before crossing a room. Need I say more?

Team #6. Peter Drohan, Jacque Maltais, Doug MacNeil, Bob Dunn.

Two former team Dino standouts Doug “The Admiral” MacNeil and Bobby “It’s in the bag” Dunn join forces with an old Napper/Dino wannabe Peter “Shoes” Drohan and an unknown upper Canadian Jacque “Le Falcon” Maltais. It will be up to the veterans to lead the way, point out the pitfalls to their young partners, show by example just what it takes to beat Ingo and the field or… Pray like hell that these guys really do golf in the high eighties low nighties.

Team #7. Robbie Youden, Robert Latham, Glen Martin , Shaun Macdonald.

Different. I don’t really know what to say. Four, at times, good golfers. Ah, Glen’s a good guitar player. Shaun likes rum. Bibs makes goulash. Robbie wronged someone I suppose. Maybe when he left without Jimmy that time. How about some more old jokes… Their ears are hairier than their heads…

Yours Truly
Gus.
