| Guruforum Comments: Forum was surprised to see a senior Congressman and a person supposed to be a follwoer of Guru openly calling for the Liquor øobby in a public meeting (read on the right column). That too quoting 'foreign tourists' as a justification! We understand that in a state where there is no prohibition, obvisously 'the stuff' is freely available. But making it a tourist issue is totally nonsensical. After reading Vakkom Purushothaman's comments on 'taking a small', the forum has asked a well-qualified person to comment on this 'Western custom'. The writer is a person who has lived in the West for not less than 20 years. ÕßçÆÖßµZ

Õߨíµß ÎáÄÜÞÏ hard liquor ¦øᢠÄæK µÝßAÞùßÜï. Forum Continues: So that's it! The Western tourist is least interested in the availability of drinks when he comes to Kerala as a tourist. The so-called 'bars' and high class places for tourists are serving 'Western Liquors' like Whiskey, Brandy etc. No foreigner (even a hard drinker) is coming to Kerala in search of these things (many of them duplicates anyway!), because for him these things and more are freely available at home. When a tourist goes to a country he would like to taste the local liquor. In the Caribbean Islands one gets Liquors like Malibu, Pina Colada , Bacardi etc many of which are made out of Coconuts - the local bread and butter crop! How many tourists in Kerala are served a 'coconut' based liquor? |
