Gowri Amma's New Discovery!

In essence, Gowri Amma says that the new generation is not able to grasp Guru's ideals! In other words, the older generation was able to do that! Even if this is true, one must recall that KR Gowri was a cabinet member in 1957 and 67 and later ministries. Seems like doctor is complaining to the patient!

As pointed out elsewhere in this Forum, K.R.Gowri Amma is 82 years old veteran CPM leader. During her career in CPM, Gowri Amma has been known as a true Marxist, but never an Ezhava leader! We very much doubt Gowri Amma ever stood for low-caste interests within CPM! In fact, using people like Gowri Amma, EMS Namboothiripad & Co exploited ezhava and other low caste votes. Gowri Amma faithfully stood by the party line when the first ever low caste Chief Minister R Shanker was defeated in the Assembly by reactionary and communal forces.

Earlier in the 60s Marxists had made a promise that all the ministries after 1967 (which was led by EMS) will be led by a lower caste person (the hidden hint was at Nr 2 in the EMS Cabinet K.R.Gowri!). But when the time came in 1987, violating the promise, the real forces within CPM took control and out of nowhere an illiterate Nayanar became the Chief Minister!  Why didn't Gowri Amma resign then and there? Now KR Gowri Amma is after Ezhava votes and want to represent Ezhavas?

In the current context Gowri Amma who doesn't know anything about Guru (rather didn't care about Guru, while she was a true Marxist), is trying to show her knowledge (or ignorance) on Guru's ideals.

The Youth or the current generation have been cheated by our older generation and the politicians, ever since independence in 1947. Reformation movements which once reverberated alongwith the freedom movements, practically took a U-turn towards reactionary ideas. CPI itself though calling for revolution never called for reformation! CPI / CPM parties stood for liquor usage using the "Chethu Thozhilai" as an umbrella, which is a violation of Guru's ideas. We had so many corrupt governments who all destroyed the industrial climate and growth of Kerala, which again was against Guru's ideals. Though Kerala attained high literacy, in the field of higher education we fell far behind the neghgbouring states. The most literate state is ruled by a consortium of third rate politicians in the form of United Front Governments since 1967. The youth have been forced to flee the state to Gulf and elsewhere in search of jobs which our governments failed to provide. In Gowri's own district and neighbouring districts the coir industry has been totally destroyed by the so-called trade union movements in which Gowr's party palyed a 'un-ceremonious' role!

In a state ruled by leftist parties for so long, many people are after cheap (in quality and expensive financially) godmen, godwomen and other charlatans. What has Gowri's party (CPM we mean) contributed to the removal of superstitions? Practially nothing. CPM was a party of revolutionary talk but never a party of a practical reformation movement.

It's high time like Gowri Amma retired from active politics. By counting K.R.Gowri as an ezhava minister, in reality the community is losing a position which should have been occupied by someone who can stand up for the cause of the low caste communities.

Since we wrote this Gowri Amma came up with a statement on another issue - JSS MLA's oath in the name of Guru!

First of all, this issue is silly; so are the arguements for and against it. In the last 50 years of independence no prominent SNDP figure has ever dragged Guru's name into politics. KR Gowri's statement misses several points. The list of names Gowri given in comparison are never to be compared with Guru! Guruvayoorappan is a mythological God. The other two are cult leaders or Godmen (Godwomen). Narayana Guru was never a cult leader or godman. Guru was the greatest Social Reformer in India since Budha.
